But basically, £10 in 2 years will be worth 'less' than £10 today, so delaying the big outgoing means it 'costs' less.

my point was, a good % of the popn haven't experienced it, nor how fast it can take off. it won't for a while either i think, but one day govts would like to diminish their debt and attempt to manage some inflation into the system.

Anyway, i like the GR a lot.

Hopefully we'll get some press reviews pretty soon, as there's a few videos on Youtube showing production cars in (Japan?) showrooms.

Really hoping that the reality lives up to the on-paper promise!

I've been interested in ordering one since it was revealed in January, I just need to have a test drive to make sure its not a boneshakingly hard ride (I have many speed bumps to commute over)

Just called my local dealer to check service intervals (to check they aren't at WRX STI levels) and annually or 10k seems reasonable enough.

Demonstrator in September also - Christ i'm keen.

I work for a Toyota dealer in hertfordshire, not in sales but the servicing department.

Excuse me if I go over anything that has been said before as I only read the last 2 pages wink but the GR Yaris mini guide that Toyota released to us says the car is to be (read as should of been) displayed/run at Goodwood this weekend frown, demos land Oct 2020 and Circuit pack car will be delivered Jan 2021.

They are hand built in the Motomachi factory (the home of A80 Supra) so I guess the delivery time will be slow?

Im happy to try and help with any questions but as I said I'm no salesman!

Put my deposit down last Saturday and my local dealer expects to have a launch edition demonstrator arrive in September.

Assuming TD is all good I am going to take the 0% APR for 24 months on a red circuit pack car. Two years should be enough time to work out if it is a keeper.

Also gone Red and circuit pack. 0% finance attractive. Have been sent a flyer confirming UK spec. Should be a fun daily.

Bit drastic! I think the steering wheel lifts up so the old fella should be ok!

Been checking in on this thread, shame the Yaris GR has been taken out of rallying next year, does this mean the car won't compete and there won't be the 25k units required?

Also cool to read about a few peoples experiences with the 182 trophy and V6 clio's - I like looking at these on the classifieds, I wanted a 182 for my first car, I don't remember them being outragously expensive 3 years ago but the insurance was killer so I went with an 1.6 Clio GT instead. They're rather expensive now it seems for a good one.

The big appeal of the Yaris though seems to be in the circuit pack though with the LSD's - not sure why people would spec them without this?

Two points here:
1) It could be that circuit pack makes the car much stiffer, which wouldn’t be great for most who are not planning to take the car on racetracks
2) If much more ppl order circuit pack, it could be that the regular gr becomes more valuable over time

Simple enough to get softer springs and even dampers fitted, rather more complicated to add the LSDs and possibly software updates.

I understand around 250 'deposits' have been taken by Toyota UK so far.

It would be interesting to know what the suspension changes actually are. I suspect that it will be fairly stiff. You’re definitely right, would be much easier just to retrofit the standard suspension if needed..

Where do you hear this? From someone at TGB?

Sounds a little lower than I expected, Ive had way more interest in the Yaris than the Supra!

Yes, local dealer, I asked the question and was the reply I got after they had a look. I was a little surprised too, quite low.

I didn’t think this was possible! I know we can check what’s in stock and pipeline availability, but not what’s been ordered.
I’ll have to check on Monday!

(I know I’ve taken 6 orders, mainly from PH members!)

Mr Ferris, did you manage to find out any concrete information on your return from furlough? We need a little light at the end of this Toyota tunnel.
