I would ponder, though, what the long term future is for mid engines cars when electric motors do away with the benefits gained from a more complex engineering solution? Going forward it’s the mid engined design that will cease to exist first as products move further towards electrification.

As a maker of heavy GT cars and SUVs, mostly for the very wealthy who reside in the large global cities it should be much easier, on paper, for a brand like Aston to transition to partial and full EV than some others.

The problem is that they will need to partner with another company to achieve this and then be hamstrung to only moving at a pace that is determined by that partner which is unlikely to be a pace best suited for AM.

There was a flippant remark earlier regarding partnering with Tesla but in many ways for a small, premium, stand alone manufacturer there would be logic in using a Tesla drivetrain over others as it would give brand credibility and also a tech leapfrog over the more incumbent ICE firms who are running their EV transitions at slower rates so as to remain commercially profitable and online with the wider consumer demands.
