I will stick to my flat 6 which sounds far better than any of the farty pops and bangs BMW have now with the 4 pot cars, as fast as they may be they still seem to be found wanting when it comes to be actually engaging to drive, but with BMW falling over themselves getting cars off forecourts on attractive deals its hardly surprising they are common

And maybe that is the same reason 6 cylinder Legacys are quite rare - if people didn't buy them in the first place there is usually a rationale behind that - like maybe top rate road tax post 2006? rolleyes

I can live with £570 a year for my BMW Z4MC, but Band K for my E86 3.0Si and E90 330i seems like a bargain - when all of them would p*ss all over an OE Legacy with a "flat" 6!

And how special are 4 cylinder Subarus these days, with fake pops and bangs? laugh

Would have thought the whole point of driving well on the roads is that you are instantly forgettable too
Exactly this.

A good driver and a total Bellend can both make progress but what a difference between the two. One does so with the utmost discretion and consideration toward other road users and takes great care not to leave a trail of intimidated or upset people behind them when getting a shift on and the other doesn't.

Not hard to guess which one goes entirely unremarked on and which one gets talked about.

Any Alpina is worth a shout- was overtaken by a chap in a D5 Touring once who would sit back 2 or 3 car lengths in the outside lane, put his right indicator on to let the car in front know he’s there. And then flash hazards after they moved over and allowed him through. Was able to make swift progress without p***ing anyone off too much.

The Irony, you seem blissfully unaware the Subaru is just as fast as your old clonker - in the wet you should be polite and just move out of the way like a good man, I wish silly BMW drivers I overtake each day were polite like that also mind you.

A flat 6 sounds far better than yours or a nasty turbo 4-cylinder BMW also.

Just idiots as usual on PH. Mr Tidy, your award-winning BMW 330i with astonishing performance that would annihilate a Subaru Legacy looks to be a 4-door saloon also - perfect then it seems for a 1 to 1 face off, alas you most certainly will pull some lame excuse, grow a pair and stop acting like a hard man behind a keyboard.laughlaughlaughlaugh

I think you might have missed, and proved, my point rofl

This looks good, coming from the guy who posted videos of people slowing down for T-junctions, and approaching pedestrians in the road at night, and complained they were getting in the way!

It’s Mr Loud mouth and no action Tidy it was in reference to

His all-encompassing 330i looks to have 220lb-ft of torque (221lb-ft on Subaru) and a 0-62 of 6.6s (6.5 on Subaru with M/T) - So yep, it would piss all over a Legacy.... and on corners or in the wet it should just move out of my way...laughlaugh

At that level of difference, it would all be down to the driver, and on what I've seen of your videos my money would be on Mr Tidy...

Dr Dunning and Dr Kruger, to the white courtesy phone, please!

I see everyone is getting sick of Eric. Don't be too hard on him he doesn't have a lot going for him. He has small man syndrome, he's a shortarse. He's also built like a pencil with spaghetti arms. A decent gust of wind would blow him away. He's balding and what little hair he has left it looks like his Mum has given him a bowl cut. He also has a face like a bag of spanners and has specs like the Milky Bar Kid. He's a dweeb/gimp. Anyone who has met him cannot stand him. His missus is a munter also.

Someone posted this about you on another thread Eric. I lifted it from the McLaren thread. What you saying about that then?

I think you've got the quoting wrong there... laugh I agree with the sentiment, but it was ericmcn, the Village Idiot, that actually said it.
After all, I wouldn't want to take credit for his pearls of wisdom biggrin
