Disappointed. Was expecting something from the 1930s.

For those who've never heard a V16 , listen to this BRM on the track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZMPDCNyQxE

Didn't Rowan Atkinson say Rolls made a V16 for one of the Jonny English films he was in?

I’m not one for fawning over the variants of different engine configs and the ‘best’ but that does sound rather brutal and something else !

Not quite. He said Rolls Royce had made a V16 that they intended to put in the Phantom, but at the last minute decided to use BMW’s V12. They built a handful of V16 and he managed to persuade Rolls Royce to put one in one of the film cars.

It really is - I was lucky enough to hear one fired up and it really was a moment I'll never forget.

Makes sense as boats often have 2 V8’s .. always thought it a bit low-tech to have two sets of switch gear to operate each engine.

OTOH, since you can't just park up on the hard shoulder and wait for the AA to arrive, when you're in the open ocean, it makes sense to have some level of redundancy.

Ah that’s a good point. Two V8’s it is.
