It's Burmester, not Burmeister.

The Coupé (and a Designo met white one at that) was perhaps the wrong image for me (a mid 40s bloke), and on occasion I did drive like a prat. But that has nothing to do with the sound system!!
Hmmm ... I think the C63 coupé is an okay image for a mid-40s bloke - I am one too. Less shouty/boy-racer than BMW's M cars. It's subtle enough in looks and certainly refined and adult I think for one nearing middle age. smile

Another one for the burmiester being sub-standard, HK is so much better and probably nearly twice as loud...

Not sure if it's an option on my 63s which came with premium pack but it isn't that loud, has ok bass and definitely would prefer going aftermarket, i did notice mines didn't come with tweeters that other cars do when the HK does.

It is quite sad that this has a lovely V8 petrol engine under its bonnet...yet we are discussing the stereo in it!! hehe

You shouldn't even need/want a stereo if you have a lovely engine to listen to I reckon. smile

Agreed ... I have yet to use the stereo in my 458 or my 812.

If you want great sounds whilst you are driving - you have that engine for ffs ....

The Burmeister system is ok when stationary, but it can't compete with road (and exhaust!) noise. It muddies the middle range - everything becomes a wall of sound.

It's still far better than the standard, which I think is the worst I have ever heard from a premium manufacturer.

Neither are a patch on previous gen W212/204 etc systems. The real omission is the lack of full size lower door card speakers in lieu of a bottle holder...
I’ve had the HK in the W 204 and it was very underwhelming - the same can be said of the Burmester, although it is slightly more impressive. I had Morel speakers fitted in the W204 and that transformed the sound, I suspect that the Burmester would also react well to some better speakers

Exactly this. Windows down and bask in the aural glow of a big V8.

I get to drive my FIL 500 which (now remapped) which is an (the interior is just class) event in itself & my dad has the CL63 with this engine in & it's a beast great fun smile

I often feel the 5.5 gets overlooked when it comes to good engines.
I’ve the S205 with the 4TT engine - when I was looking the 5. Only in the E63 seemed a great choice but had the thirst of nearly the 6.2v8 with now the same or less boho over the hot V.

Technically the hot v is a much superior engine.

Today had a drive up to Manchester in -2 start not great traffic and just shy of 209milds one stop but it did 30mpg ... amazing

Great engine with a fantastic noice (although not quite as filthy as the old 6.2) but I can’t get on with the looks of either the coupe or the saloon. I am however very taken with the estate...the one posted earlier looks fab.

It’s a while since I’ve been in one but the interior seemed pretty nice, nicer than the F80 that’s for sure.

Interior is fine S25 clearly it’s not S63 AMG levels but that. Not a track car

I averaged 31.8 out of my dad's CL63 on a (5.5TT) run up to Newcastle this was a one off but on a run I normally average 27mpg which is impressive with a car that weighs as much as much it does & for something producing 679bhp at the crank.

In relative terms then my trip wasn’t that great

Then again I average 25-27mpg.
I do find that the type of fuel you use makes a big difference on MPG also having sports exhaust on appears to use more or maybe it’s me enjoying oral snigger

I looked at this very car a few weeks ago.

In my opinion, just like the Lexus showroom next door and the rest of the forecourt stock, its over priced.

Both showrooms are literally sat there waiting for the next Sandbanks / Canford Cliffs buyer to rock up.

I had the saloon for a year. With a secondary cat delete it sounded good but somehow artificial. The steering, however, was quite ponderous and numb, and the suspension very stiff without control. I never felt comfortable with it in corners. It’s probably my least favourite car I’ve owned. Tech and comfort was good though.

Is the S version worth the premium over the normal C63 ? I know it has more power & different seats, anything else ?
