Pickup Trucks - Chav Vehicle of Choice
Discussion
Whilst I'm sure some are just normal people, it does seem that others, often the slightly more blinged up ones stuck to your bumper are driven by preusmably the slightly angrier gentleman.
Personally I take a sad pleasure in being in the Ute at the time, as in comparison to their pitifully short load bed and pathetic little 3 litre engines it's surely far better at compensating for a tiny pecker?
Although it is obviously only of car height, and no 4wd so if I needed to tow their ma's caravan off the pitch in a monsoon I'd probably just spray soil all over the front of it

Not sure if they are Chav, but i don't get them.
We were having a new bathroom installed and the guy who runs the firm came over in his Mitsubishi/Nissan/Ford Rapist/Wife Beater/Soccer Thug or whatever it was called.
It was it has to be said, a magnificent thing that thoroughly intimidated my Discovery Sport when parked up on the drive. However as i helped the guy unload stuff from it, the whole thing came across as really impractical. A high load bed with a big flat cover that had to be lifted up to get access. You couldn't put anything with any height in there.
His workers came in Transits which appeared far more practical. The latest ones, looked pretty luxurious up front too.
I can see why a pickup without a load cover would work if you were lugging a small cement mixer around or if you were carrying hay bales or animal feed bags about. Vans day to day just seem a whole lot better.
Easier to load a pickup with a forklift, or shovel a ton of aggregate out of the back of it. depends on the job though, as to what you need. I did enjoy the F150 I rented in Canada though, that thing was cool

Just looked at the OP's profile
27 year old gentleman who doesn't discriminate against anything with 4 wheels
Doesn't seem to be so

Doesn't seem to be so
I was thinking the same.
Can someone please explain.....?
As an aside, I’ve owned a few of these trucks. Bloody useful as shooting hacks - which is what I used mine for.
Should I post a picture of my house now?

Yes i can see how that would make sense in that role. Most I see are run by blokes like I mentioned, trades people carrying tools, boxes of tiles, paint or whatever. It just seems like a van would be less hassle. I did enjoy the F150 I rented in Canada though, that thing was cool
Its interesting how in the UK pick ups went out of fashion.
Years ago you'd see pickups based on car derived Vans. Minis, Marinas etc then later Cortina then Sierra based P100s
Most faded away with the mainstream manufacturers no longer offering them, presumably they didn't sell.
Now they're all the rage albeit in a different form.

There is a guy who parks this in one of the office car parks near me. Never seen a spec of dirt on it, and he appears to have a desk job and wears a suit to work. Most odd.
Does he work in finance? They are very tax efficient.... both personally and for the business.
(the "DeRanged" look is very questionable though, I'll concede that one!)

I’ve started to notice a new generation of chavs have moved on from their battered 3 door Astra’s onto bigger and better things. Such vehicles of choice being the Ford Ranger or Nissan Navara to prove the size of manhood to their Chantel’s and Vicki’s.
Am I stereotyping or are WhatCar publishing Chav editions which kept on the top shelves of newsagents, next to the naughty mags?
I thought the popularity was down to the tax advantages of a commercial vehicle and finance deals etc? Plus the bonus that they allow you to hang out around naked men at the gym while definitely, irrefutably and categorically fancying girls. Mite go dirt biking at a weekend, perfect for throwing bikes in back of towing them if you have a few of you and easily take on the rutted tracks you usual find to get to the tracks themselves. andrewparker said:

Does he work in finance?£57 per month cost to the employee in salary deductions (at 20%)
It's a lot of metal (and plastic and LEDS) on the driveway for not a lot of money.
