I concur Mike!

It is a bit scary how the debts could rack up doing the Caterham Academy in particular though- the £30k you finance at the beginning includes a load of pre-booked events. The car might not be going on credit cards but you might not have a choice when it comes to a long front...

A friend did most of the work himself and it was £3k in the end I think including paint. You'd be mega unlucky to do a long front in any of the sprint events, and in all honesty, the number of people that needed them were countable on my fingers across 5 years of racing. Thankfully I never needed one.

Regardless, there's risk of course, but I think generally you just make it work!

Surely it would be cheaper just to enter some of the lower league cups like Clio or civic.

Is there any other "kit car" cups which offer better value?
Caterham graduates.

Same cars as the main Caterham series but lower entry costs (no need for the latest spec car) and a season is typically cheaper than trying to run a clio/civic due to closed regs, minimal wear/tear, parts that are cheap as chips.

Already over subscribed for 2020 so must be doing something right..
