Ok so.

The actuated manual that Ferrari used is literally the same gearbox as the manual.

They remove the plate that translates the shift cable movement from the manual gear lever and replace it with an actuator.

Clutch, same deal.

You’ve then got a TCU and some sensors that work a strategy to determine baulked shifts, interpret clutch wear settings and all kinds of other “work arounds.” It works, of course. Weight wise it’s not so good, because you’ve got a lot of “stuff” dangling around on brackets that support it and because you’ve got the compromises made when it was made to be a manual in the first place. With a modern dual clutch box the clutches and internal mechanisms are designed from the ground up to work in a “one box” setup.

Hope that helps.

I own a 26,000 mile RHD 2007 F1 gearbox model, I’ve done 13,000 miles and only replaced the track rod ends in my six years of ownership. It’s a fabulous drive, costs about the same to insure as my 2014 Audi A4 Avant Quattro ( Yes really!). Servicing isn’t that bad either at my nearest main dealer. It’s not as big an ownership risk or cost as people think and about half the price to buyof a 458. Bargain!

I like the interior....

That said, with the car being in Dubai - you'd have to check the interior really carefully for sun / heat damage. Shame it doesn't have daytona seats and looks to have an aftermarket stereo - fair enough as the original was useless. Looks like a nice car.. what's the betting this will sit for a while... disappear and reappear after a heavy valet and about 35k knocked off the clock at a different dealer... whistle

And what's the point of an old Ferrari not being garish?
da da!!

Exactly.

Steering wheel on the left, exactly where it should be. It's a Ferrari. Anything would just be so wrong :-P

I thought nowadays LHD cars fetch more. The RHD cars in the UK are cheaper than their LHD counterparts on the continent, in nearly all cases, no?

Anyway. Shame I don't have 50K, I'd jump on this if I did.

Back on topic please ....

A LHD, 75K mile, black with red F430 will be a very, very difficult car to shift in the UK. I would venture that it's overpriced at £49,995 atm.
This man is probably very right. But this shouldn't be the case. 75k miles tells me this car has been used and loved. Garage queens of this age would scare me.

Don't they say that Ferrari owners bragg about how little miles their cars have done, whilst the Porsche owners bragg how MUCH theirs done laugh

Watch out for Middle East F430s, a lot were bought new by young ‘locals’ on heavy finance as a daily, and weren’t maintained even close to the required standard. Check the service history very carefully and call dealers to check the work done against stamps in books - especially the belt service, which always seems to have been done just before someone sells the car.

Newer Ferraris (from 2012) came with a seven year service plan, but one still needs to check they were all actually done!

And yeah, they love the full red interiors. Allah only knows why.

Is the "belt service" something specific to Middle East F430's?

What’s with the weird door handle on the right door (while the left one does not have one).

The next cheapest one on mobile.de is sth like 68k Euros. Could well be a car to consider if you plan to keep it longer term (or want to modify it). Haven’t read anything about engine issues on these, so would hope it wil l have quite a few more in it with regular maintenance
Its a grab handle, the door handles are recessed in both doors, but only the passenger gets a grab handle, driver uses the steering wheel. You can get carbon ones to reduce the redness...
Ah thanks, now that you mention it i remember. It is rather red, although as somebody pointed out, red does not photograph well and often looks much better in real life
Youre right, it doesn't photograph well.
We recently sold an absolute mint perfect 318ti compact, silver with red leather. The interior, although in perfect condition didn't look at all nice in the pictures but sold it to the first customer who saw it.

Being LHD isn't something that would bring down a cars value at all. Pedals are the same, it's just changing gear with your right instead of left but some seem to make a big issue out of it. 90% of these would be LHD anyway. And the mileage? It's low for the age of car, since when was 75k miles high??

Lol whoops, you’re right, of course it’s timing chains on this one so the major service doesn’t involve a belt. Thanks for correcting me.

I’ve driven a few 430s but only Scuderias so don’t know what the standard model is like. The Scuderia was brilliant. I almost bought this one but decided on a 355 instead (which I had lusted after when they first came out). Much as I loved the 355 I do sometimes wonder whether I made the right choice.

I'd say you made the right decision as that looks like a right headache to drive.

Rather than a 'spotted' article, shouldn't this be 'cars to avoid'?
It's the cheapest available, imported, LHD, auto box & in Birmingham.

I'm not so sure. Given the evidently exceptional downforce it might just handle like a dream...

Is it not the exact opposite? Seems to have massive lift issues even whilst stationary

That's a bargain for someone.

For those moaning about the interior, get an Audi - this is a true supercar for £50k.

Is that interior called vagina arrabbiata?

Probably return a decent yield as a Brummie wedding and party car.

The 430 is not the best car built by Ferrari but, for me, is the best looking. The red interior on the version in the article does let the car down, in my opinion.

That colour combo is probably my ideal spec! Love a colour interior (two red, one cream presently)

Can't see the appeal of sitting in something all black, featureless, dark and unwelcoming? Why is it people lust after black so much? confused
