Diesel, No Thank You.
Exactly what I was thinking.

Even when diesels were supposedly the bees knees I didn't want one, the diesel-gate makes sure I will never have another.
Have you ever considered people might exist who actually need decent fuel economy? I didn't need a diesel once upon a time so I chose not to buy any. Until I started doing 80-100 mile commutes a day.

Wasn't the petrol 340 roundly slated as being aloof, distant and dull to drive by evo magazine this month?
Yes and certain social media folk who have been waxing lyrical about the M340i and also happen to make shed loads of money from flogging it on finance deals aren’t very happy about it.....
Sounds like my recent experience of BMW's... Were a decent steer, now just fairly anodyne. Slap on the silly grills (which so far the 3 series has missed!) and I'm ooot!

How short is human memory. Dieselgate you remember, but huge issues with petrol 35i when they first came out seem to be long forgotten.
Slight difference between some reliability issues picked up by BMW under warranty, and gaming an emissions test to make sure a car that exceeded the limits made it through.
Were they now? I remember N54 and N55 and the HPFP system went through quite a few revisions before BMW got their act together.
Also, with the VW thing meant the car would, well, work. With the BMW it meant it would break. So I'd take dieselgate over poor design and manufacturing any day smile

But I digress and I didn't really mean to pick on poor 35i. Shunning all diesels because one manufacturer cheated on the emission tests is IMO just silly. I'm not a particular fan of diesels and would prefer a petrol but to me saying something like "the diesel-gate makes sure I will never have another" is just bizarre. You think manufacturers aren't cheating or at least bending the rules in other areas? How about mpg figures?

It better not be as dull to drive as it looks... And those wheels are just awful.

They really are the automotive equivalent of a vegan. No reason for them to tell you they are, but don't worry, they will!!

Seems odd that a car you cant buy and no one was sure existed is getting youtuber reviews ahead of press launch, but guess PH must not be BMWs favourites at the moment

Given i lusted after the D3 twin turbo, these should be a good buy post lease in a few years, perfect for me, as still need a diesel (60 + miles a day and lots of weekend journeys)
