Ferrari only build cars to customer orders plus dealer demos.

Anyone buying a Lusso in the hope they can buy a Pista deserves a kicking, much like those buying Porsche SUVs and boggo 911s in the hope they can buy a GT3.
Yet there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that, for the limited edition models from most sports car manufacturers, they are choosing the customers and not the other way around.

Hence yes, you do have to have already spent a pile of money on ‘regular’, deprecating, cars, in order to get one of the special ones.

I'm fairly confident that Ferrari electric vehicles will have an edge over the competition when it comes to power delivery, roadholding, design and over all desirability.
people will stop caring about cars then imo

I'm not Ferrari's biggest fan (I actually prefer the older ones to the new ones) but fair play to them. They have carved out a very impressive business model and the facts speak for themselves. Without needing an SUV (yet) to prop the company up, they've delivered very strong results with very good products. Well done Ferrari. beer

Quite interesting that they had really strong sales in South Africa in Jan 2020 at 17 cars, are normally in single figures for monthly sales.

It's simple I suppose. Ferrari make the worlds best cars. Stunning in looks and technology.
I gather they have raised their production cap? They used to limit production to 7000 cars a year to maintain exclusivety. I suppose with the impending doom of the motor car, they have discarded this frugality.

Hmm, I think they'll struggle to keep up with production, based on the fact that they already are. My wife's Portofino was delayed 9 months, and I don't think it's by chance that this coincided with the launch of 3 new models.

I remember when they were capped to 3000 annually. That was about 20+ years back though.
