Some friends of mine went to a remote coast in Goa I think it was. Walked ages to place themselves 5 miles from anywhere. Went swimming, then came back to find a German family pitched up right next to them.

I think people just like to be with people, even if it means parking next to them.

It is odd, but quite entertaining

My inlaws have a motorhome and remark on the same thing happening with them. They'll pitch up on a quiet site and when they come back to the still-quiet site they'll usually have some neighbours.
Many years ago we had this with a tent. Rocked up to a relatively empty campsite, pitched my tent and went out for a bit. Came back to find that someone had pitched their tent so close that my guy rope was actually under their tent. Oh and to top it all off they had a young baby that screamed a lot. Nice.
We also have a motorhome and go away to Europe may June time most years. It’s very quiet in a lot of the campsites there and yes often people will park next to us even though the site is almost deserted. We have actually moved the motorhome to another area as it’s quite easy to do so, not so easy if you have a caravan with an awning all set up

What makes you so special when you think no one should ever park beside you, maybe you should post your reg number so we all know to stay well clear, I'm a driving instructor and if knew where you parked I could let my pupils practise their bay parking......
What a knobbish post.

oh I love it when people do this (unless it's not busy and out of the way)

it saves me a space near the front to squeeze into. keep up the good work

No your being a deliberate dick by your own admission. It’s not busy at all and you even wanted to park closer. So your a dick and I’d have broke the mirror off or let a tyre down for you. A little revenge present
This is either mindless hyperbole or you're (not that it is 'you're' and not 'your') the sort of person who can't plan more than five minutes into the future. In your world it is acceptable to carry out criminal damage because of some antisocial parking, or you at least think it makes you look better on the Internet to claim that you would do so. Neither is a good outcome.

Do you mean “note” rather than “not” as you are clearly a pedantic trainspotter

Keep playing your silly parking games then sonny.

One day you might not be laughing so much if you do ding a door in the wind or perhaps inconvenience someone with restricted mobility.

All because they have a nice car and you dont so jealousy makes you park next to them to try to upset them.

What a very sad pathetic individual you are.

Not really pedantic, I just correlate standards of grammar (my own slip up notwithstanding!) with general levels of intelligence. I simply didn't proofread my post, whereas you seem to struggle with more rudimentary grammatical issues. That, combined with your willingness to boast about vandalising a car if you perceive the driver to be a 'knob', speaks volumes about you. I trust your job doesn't carry any particular weight of responsibility?

If we are being clever and personal I can’t see a train spotting database admin operator being particularly important.
For your info I retired at 50 due to working hard and paying a lot into my pension. That was 4 years ago.

Thoughtful people worry about whether they are inconveniencing others. They’re the sort who turn down the volume on their hotel TV after 9pm, move along a busy tube carriage, and leave a bit more room next to a car that looks like it needs it in the car park.

For the rest, their impact on other people is either something that hadn’t even occurred to them, and/or they feel totally entitled to do whatever suits them personally. They take the shared armrest in the plane, talk loudly on their phones in public places, and park selfishly......
I love this post. A perfect depiction of modern society.

Sadly true. Modern society is awful. Narcissistic snowflakes everywhere. It’s pathetic.

Brilliant I literally typed this out then saw your post. Agree a complete tts post !!

I’ve got to confess slightly different, but our 2 drives regularly got blocked by idiots parking often blocking my wife in before work ! I had a very large collection of passenger wing mirrors at one point was thinking of eBaying them but that might of added to my wrap sheet. laugh few months later no one was parking over the drives .

Absolutely 100% agree. Combination of lack of consideration and poor awareness is, sadly, very common these days.

Oof, this all takes me back to when I was younger, doing a bit of work for a firm that used some Mercedes Sprinter vans. We once parked up in a car park and I was carefully attempting to clamber out of the passenger side of the van whilst simultaneously holding the door to stop it from hitting the adjacent car. I don't think the car was particularly special, but it was somebody else's property and I wasn't about to let a big Sprinter door swing into it and leave a massive dent in it.

The chap I was working for (director of the company and a perfectly nice bloke) then pipes up "just let it go" and I think I said something along the lines of "but it'll hit that car" and I think his response was along the lines of "who cares". And that's from someone who I otherwise thought of as being a perfectly nice guy.

I think the issue is that everyone has had a ding or two in their time from people who don't give a sh*t about anybody else's property, so nowadays pay that same attitude forward, unfortunately.

FWIW, I was horrified at his attitude and didn't let go of the door.

If everyone was just more respectful of each other's property then everyone could park within the lines and it wouldn't matter how bloody close you were.

I'll admit to being somebody who parks out of the way in the hope that I won't get somebody door dinging my car. I've also had my fair share of door dings despite my tactics and on many occasions still come back to find cars parked inexplicably close to mine despite nothing else being anywhere near and despite my car being nowhere near the entrance to the shops. I don't even think it's done on purpose, either, as it's usually old granny-wagons like Nissan Notes and Honda Jazzes, often with their driver's door so close to my car that it's like they didn't consider how they'd exit their own vehicle when pulling up.

I think a Defender with checker plating on the doors would probably make an ideal car park vehicle for this type of scenario.

Not my proudest moment but I once returned to my freshly painted Corrado parked well out of the way in a car park to find a Punto alongside and a large chunk of paint out of my door, some still present on the Punto door edge, reasoning that my door needed painting anyway I gave it an almighty shove into the side of the Fiat.

At the supermarket this morning, I watched someone after (presumably) unload his trolley just push it away, it was taken by the wind and smashed into a 18 plate X-Trail. He saw me looking at him, shrugged his shoulders and got in his car.
