That's not Kenilworth is it perchance ? By the castle ? I was there for a Sunday afternoon wander and watching the antics of two Discos taking it in turns to wade through from one end to the other, much to the amusement of the assembled crowds. Mind you had to keep well clear of the bow wave when they broke through to dry land. And yes they were card carrying members of the "one life, live it" brigade. Discos modded with high lift kits, big knobbly tyres, snorkels, winchs, recovery eyes etc. I think the most expensive bit of kit that each had was a full-width roof mounted LED light bar that could flash in a sequence of orange bursts.

Not a disco, but...

Gets a right telling off from the fire service, then rolls himself a ciggy whilst the BBC journalist interviews him.
Whilst he's undoubtedly being a bit of a chopper it's the overreaction from the pasty faced firey that's just as laughable. Live rescues, crews at risk and all the rest of that crap. Give me fecking strength, if he was that involved in a live rescue that was so important he wouldn't be standing around watching a fat bloke get stuck on a verge.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-51550291/floods-u...

But if they have to get him out and then another call comes in, it just causes delays. Totally fair response imothecremeegg said:

But if they have to get him out and then another call comes in, it just causes delays. Totally fair response imoThe problem with people needlessly venturing out into floods is that A) they get stuck and block the road and sometimes B) they go missing, get washed away or need their mortal remains recovering. The wash from vehicles is annoying too, especially if the sandbags or flood defences you have are only just sufficient to protect your property.
Emergency services tend to experience all of these scenarios especially when they're busy so get justifiably naffed off with people pushing themselves and other people in danger.

Like the comment that only a French car could catch fire in water - but you know the French like a good smoke. The speed that took hold I can only assume a fuel line was already on its last legs and the water caused it to split/crumble.
