The overall package is beautiful. The front end compared to recent crap from Audi, BMW and Mercedes is fantastic.

that's the issue with F types.
911 Convertible is 1650kg

F-Type Convertible P450 Dynamic is 1735kg - Unladen weight (EU) (kg) - Includes a 75kg driver, full fluids and 90% fuel

So not really anything in it, especially considering the Jag has a bigger engine.

The front isn't as offensive as some make out. Especially in person. A lot of the ire directed towards it is band wagon jumping IMO.
Bandwagon jumping? So you looked at the new nose and thought "ooh, that's an improvement..."? I didn't need to read anyone else's opinion to think "what have they done?".

It no longer looks like a sports car from the front. It now looks like an XE, but keeping the old rear end styling makes it the 21st century equivalent of a Nissan Sileighty. Neither the Nissan nor the Jag look as good as the sum of their parts.

You disagree with others opinion, fair enough, but please don't claim that its all band wagon (what band wagon?) jumping. Its a different opinion to yours that's all.

I didn't say "all".

Hmmmmm. The front does make me think Audi and the rear diffuser (if that is what it is that sits below the exhausts) is challenging to the eye.

Regulations or some such malarkey will no doubt be used to explain some of it but the F-Type was a good looking (if a touch oversize) car. Now it looks like it's searching for ideas... Not unlike going way back when Lotus and TVR threw on some 'tricky' rear lights on their run-out Esprits and Griffiths respectively.

So they run a launch event and don’t let you drive the “new” engined variant....... ok then.

They probably haven't built it yet... Marketing have decided there's going to be one, but engineering haven't had chance to make it work yet.

That is with a 75kg driver, so more around 1750kg, I had an SVR over a year ago which would of being around same weight and though I agree they need to work on the weight it was an extremely fast car, I clocked around 3s flat 0-60 in it and it could launch of the line full power even in freezing cold wet conditions and the noise was incredible.

For me its only two weaknesses was you can feel that 1700kg plus in the corners which made it feel a bit nervous in the wet and visibility is not great, it feels a wide car on the road because it is but it does not do a good job of shrinking around you like a lot of cars do so, for example I drive a 458 now that is wider but to drive feels narrower, but I guess that is bonus of mid-engine visibility.

However the ZF8 in the SVR I felt was awesome, having driven several DSG, DCT and PDK cars, the ZF8 never had me thinking it was slow, on the paddles it was superb and in autotmatic trumped them all as it was well a proper automatic.

I just always wished Jaguar had made a lightweight model, like say based on the coupe, RWD only, manual, got rid of all the un-needed motorised stuff like heater vents, door handles, removed stereo, bucket seats and offered the market say a 600HP RWD 1500kg model, with a manual option would of made a very fun car.

My biggest memory of F-Type is how it also feels over engine and hot rod, it might be heavy but if feels every bit 600HP with the instant torque delivery from the supercharger. I hope they do well as they are great cars and for me a lot more entertaining and musical than say a turbocharged Porsche or BMW.

I admit that I really like the F Type and it seems far more civilized and quiet than the 992. The Harry's Garage review of the 992 showed that the car was louder than 80dB in the cabin at 70mph!

I wonder if the pick of the range for the refresh is the 450ps supercharged F-Type AWD, then add a smaller pulley and a tune for 575-650hp and pocket the £25k saved compared to the R.

The only thing I don't know is what the suspension differences between the 450PS and 575PS models will be.

Glad they've included yellow, which looks fantastic and will help to negate the humdrum dealer forecourts. I like the new front end well enough too, just wish they'd refreshed the rear end a little too.

I agree with others, it's gone all Audi with the headlights and boring/generic on the front in general. I much prefer the original 2013 F-Type, just looks edgier/better. Shame to be losing the V6, though that base V8 is enticing at that price range..

Who grafted a TT onto the jaguar?

Lights are far too small for a car that size - looks stupid.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I prefer the new front end. The last one whilst looking good at release, was starting to look rather dated.

Both my cars are 4WD and especially in the more powerful one I'm very glad of it, but then perhaps I'm not a PH Driving God™ that others profess to be.

I'm only denigrating my driving ability. Nothing else. I consider myself a competent driver but I feel more comfortable with 4WD at circa 700bhp.

Interesting that the consensus here seems to be that the original design is better.

This refresh looks better than previously in my opinion. I always really liked the overal F Type shape but was never that sold on the headlight styling, thought it seemed a bit Japanese-y, a bit 350/370Z-ish.

I have to say that I prefer headlights on the front face of a car, not those that seem to sit on top of the top face of the bonnet.

Given what is available for less than £80-100k these day, the F Type looks like one of the most desireable options out there for me, and seems to represent something that is a least a semi-realistic ownership proposition at some point.

Whilst I'm not offended by the new front end, I have to admit that I prefer the previous version which itself looked LOADS better than the original. The updated front bumper and headlights of the previous one just looked bang on. Ive always wanted a coupe, and whilst I don't think I could stomach the constant fuel stops of a V8 or V6 version, I'm tempted by the 2l 4 pot.
