Looks way better than it did before. I’d say it’s now a very good looking car.

BUT. It weighs how much? You’re kidding?!
How is that possible?

It’s 300kg overweight at least. Ridiculous.
Have you and other similar commentators not looked up recently, 1800kg is where they all are in 2020. Brace yourself, the new leccy equivalents are 2.3 tons.

Not a fan of the revised front end. Looks very Mazda-ish. I'll take an Aston Martin V8 Vantage instead.

That front end is a peach, what it should have looked like back in 2012

I'm going to go against the grain and say I prefer the new front end. The last one whilst looking good at release, was starting to look rather dated.
With you on this, the old front end looked too high and goofy in relation to the rear

Buy the 450hp car and throw a smaller pulley and a tune on it for 600hp. Best way to do it if going new on these.

That motor will be exactly the same internally as Jag can't afford to have different internals on the 5.0L they've been using for 15 years, and can take 600hp like the Project 8 and Lister cars without an issue.

When a car manufacturer charges you 4.5k extra for a special colour paint option that should tell you quite clearly the contempt they have for you as a customer.
Jaguar are not alone in this but really it's time to play them at their own game and don't buy their cars.

That new front end is ghastly.
The overall package is beautiful. The front end compared to recent crap from Audi, BMW and Mercedes is fantastic.
But.. it looks like any generic Audi.
Why copy what others do. A shame this car can't have its ow n identifiable look. Instead it looks just like any other on the road now. The slant lights do it no favours whatsoever.

Whilst I've always loved F-Types and I think the facelift looks great (in the right colour), I just can't imagine ever spending so much on one.

I know you can't compare apples to oranges and all that, but you can get a 17 plate SL65 with it's glorious 6.0L twin turbo V12 (621bhp/1000nm) with 7k on the clock for 'just' £91,950. I know which I'd rather have!

You know what? I agree! I have always had a soft spot for the SL, BUT Merc has just let it go with not bothering to update the interior and keeping the rear end of the SL almost EXACTLY the same since the R230 model from 2001!!

This car, the SL, has heritage going back to the 1950s and THAT is something truly special.
The mere is probably more advanced. You can't even get radar cruise on the 'New' Jag because it's the old architecture. The rear looks all wrong too

I have a 2018 car. Love the way it looks and its a great daily. I'm just sick of it breaking down constantly and being in the dealers once a month with a new issue. It really takes the shine off of it and that's why I'll be trading it in for a Porsche as soon as I can afford to.
Really? - What issues have you had? - I thought they were fairly well ironed out and bomb-proof. (v6 or V8)?

Ooh, they’ve made the handling/grip more pointy. Excellent.
Always liked the F’s relatively compact dimensions, and it now seems very svelte and elegant compared to a 992.
And unlike the latter, in an F you can hear the stereo at motorway speeds. Or how you are saying in ze Englisch: It is genuinely an everyday car.

My next car will be a F Type, love them.

Will be an older model as I prefer the looks, which is good because I can’t afford a new one!!!

Anyone know about the engines, assume just V8 & four pot if they’ve dropped the V6’s?

I'd take an AMG GT or GTS any day of the week over an F-type.
Better handling, faster, more traction, better gearbox, better steering, better quality interior, better looking & some would say superior build quality.
It's a shame because we all want to see JLR succeed as it's good to have competition, or choice in this sector.
But this facelift isn't enough and it's another opportunity missed by Jaguar.

Confusion here in two camps.

1. They made a facelift look worse.
2. The R spec was meant to be discontinued in favour of the SVR across the range. Now they’ve discontinued the SVR. confused

Amazed they couldn’t think of a better way to incorporate a reversing camera.

The F-Type has always been a charismatic car and this one continues the heart over head theme. I think to inject some more magic into the range, Jag would do well to do a Porsche and offer a 'T' i.e. fake lightweight version but with some of the glitz of the actual GT cars and then the new SVR should take a leaf from the GT3 book. Not to be a track warrior, something the F-Type will never be, but certainly a less weighty version: Carbon roof, lightweight race sits, less sound deadening, less electric gizmos etc.

Of course this assumes Jaguar actually have the spare cash to do x, y, z with the range, but unfortunately as we all know they do not. I hope they achieve their sales targets with this car though, less accomplished than a 992 certainly, but I bet it will excite more of the time and at slower speeds. Characterful cars are lacking in this day and age so it should be celebrated. We will all wish we could buy cars like this new in years to come.
