Im not entirely sure it should read PistonHeads 'where pennies count'
It's really difficult to ignore price and value. I don't think we're talking about pennies in fairness. Metallic paint - £674
14 way electric front seats with memory - £1044
LED headlights - £767
Privacy glass - £33
Surround view / reversing camera - £884
Seat heating front and rear - £590
Heated windscreen - £303
Heated multifunction steering wheel - £383
Bose surround sound - £834
Don't think any of those are excessive options, would probably add air suspension when it came to it and a more interesting interior, but pretty easy to get up to £60k from a £49k list price

I'll be keeping the X5 for a long while yet.

Standard headlights are LED and seem ok to me, save yourself £767 on the upgraded ones.Metallic paint - £674

OK granted they arent small sums of money but I dont quite understand the obsession with options , you spec it up & decide if you want to spend that money or not , easy as that reallyLovely car, and great value at around £58k.
You never really need to go bonkers with options on any GTS Porsche, much of the damage comes from personalisation. Also, it is an SUV so no need to go bonkers with the additional performance stuff either. Once of these around £60k- £65k looks good value.
Some have mentioned the SQ5 but that's a diesel with a shocking ride and a dislike of corners (IMO). You can get one new for c. £45k though if you can't stretch to you Macan GTS.

How about taxing by the kilo?
That would work! Let’s say 10p per kilo below 1,300, and £1 per kilo above that, per year for ICE cars?
Less is best.
