160bhp 4-cylinder WTF?!

The only pick up I ever wanted (still do) is the black one Marty McFly got in Back to the Future. Seriously cool.

First and foremost these are tax efficient vehicles for company car drivers, classed as a commercial vehicle. The 2.2 can be easily remapped from 160hp to 190hp with comparable increase in torque. It is comfortable, visibility is great, and with the remap mine is faster than most cars driven through mid Wales!!

I have to say I snigger at these somewhat - and Ford's own Wildtrak Midlife Crisis special edition.

But that's because I drive an F150 King Ranch 3.5 Ecoboost with 470hp, which I bought 2 years old with 17,000mls for £28,000 - £20k less than a new Ranger Raptor. Not to brag; I just want to illustrate how much better it is than a European Ford pickup.

It's 8 times the truck, a metre longer and looks nowhere near as try-hard, but you can start it from the remote, it has every bell & whistle ever invented and when people they see it, they go "woah". I've put 25,000mls on it and reliability has been perfect. The acceleration bends the planet around you, and it does 24mph, which is like 2mpg less than the 3.2 diesel Ranger.

So what I'm saying is - if you have new Ranger money and want to impress people, just get an F150.
Have to fully agree with this, I’ve got a 2010 V8 thats slightly fettled with, it’s not your 470bhp as those ecoboosts are animals but it’s got some grunt. Gets noticed everywhere and always positive. I’m at 200k now and it’s faultless. Just couldn’t ever got back to an European truck.

Have to love a 4x4 with a bit of attitude. Agree we don’t do dune bashing or plowing through swamps but given the state of UK roads, the maintenance of them and ability of other drivers, having a decent 4x4 will get you home. Just wait until everyone else is off the road or at a standstill and then have some fun.

And to the poster that questioned handling. If it’s set up and driven the right way it will keep up with most things in the bends.
