Not sure about the new rear bumper treatment...hanging out there like the bottom lip on a petulant toddler.

I sort of get these - the 'one car fits all' type of scenario, but I cannot help but think that the price has completely jumped the shark now. For an average £110k cost, I could buy two really damn good (and arguably more specialised) cars and really not have to compromise on anything.

I think the price has made the market for these exceptionally small. Glad they exist, but also fear that things like this are why manufacturers are turning their backs on performance vehicles. They've gone a little too far.

2.1 tonnes. Estate. 4x4.

Sub 4 secs - 60.

Why? Once in a lifetime trip on the Autobahn?

It's nice having a fast car (yes the overtaking thrust is great) but the expense of this vs the actual amount of time you'd use the speed just doesn't seem to justify the cost (see also E63 and M5). And if you don't use the speed there are nicer estates about at a fraction of the cost.

£130k is ticking every option box including ceramic brakes. More likely to be nearer £100k.
Still a lot of money but it’s a lot of car
I like it

It's fast...and...er...has a bodykit that looks aggressive. Other than that how does it stand out from other estates? (Lets forget the cost for a moment)

Is there anyone else out there that just doesn't "get" these?

I honestly couldn't ever see myself wanting one.
i think they are aimed at people who want a fast estate, might be wrong

Much prefer this over the visibility destroying high riding SUV's.
I wondered how long it'd be until you mentioned SUVs again.

Then why comment on it? Bizarre behaviour.
You've commented twice now on this thread and not even said anything about the car. Wind your neck in!

What other estates are you talking about?
If we are ignoring it’s fast are we taking into account Matrix lights, 4 wheel steering, interior etc

Why buy any car? It is very rarely a rational decision. I would suggest most people on PistonHeads have bought a car based on dodgy man maths and flawed reasoning
That’s why there are so many makes and models
Everyone is different

It seems like Audi feel that they have to try and make it 10% bigger, brasher and more stereotypical of a super estate every time they make a new RS6, and at that price!! Crazy.

I'd rather they toned it down and made more subtle changes rather than turning it into a comical chav mobile on oversized rims. I'd love to know how many of these they shift new when the depreciation after a few years is staggering.

Is it really £2k for the 'upgraded' headlining? I mean, who looks at or touches the headlining in their car? Anyone? I've owned my car for 8 years, i couldn't even tell you what colour the headlining is, let alone have actually interacted with it in any way in that time?

Yes I noticed that. They take the pee with these prices. Audi not the only one, I think it was the new Jag F-Type, I think their headlining was a grand, bearing it mind it had a panoramic roof there actually can't be that much headlining that needs to go in, yet it's a grand! WTF is it made out of? Gold leaf?

Other manufacturers produce estates - the Mercedes E Class estate is one of a number and looks lovely.

I was rather hoping you might try to justify the purchase of one of these in some way. Fancy headlights and an Audi interior do not a dream car make IMO. However your suggestion of flawed reasoning and man maths is probably pretty close to the mark. biggrin

Wait a year or two for depreciation, discounts to kick in and i'll be in the market for one. Perfect for family and dog duties. Having an m3, means no rear passengers when the dog is with us.
As there is no m5/m3 touring, only choice and is a Merc or Audi.

I don't like SUV's, much prefer a saloon/estate format.
Electric car for the commute, supercar for sunny days and a fast estate for weekend/European trips.
