Very big houses are unnecessary, and people I know who have them don't use many of the rooms....
King size beds are good, although non-huge people can cope fine in a double. Queen size ones are excessive.
Believe it or not, not everybody thinks that bigger and more is better per se.

The answer is that people want them.
And/or want to be seen in them. There is no other justification, nor is it needed, really. I don't desire one or envy those who drive them.
The "comfort" angle/argument is a bit bizarre. How much "comfort" does a human need? Given that a Mondeo is more comfortable than most living rooms, a Bentley Bentayga is providing a little more "comfort" for a lot more cash. It could be argued that too much "comfort" is a bad thing for the physical state of people in the UK in the 21st century.
Self quoting, it's quite odd the lengths that some of you will go to take a position, almost as if you feel threatened by somebody who doesn't think that more is always better or is not striving to own the biggest and most expensive. I'm not even opposed to the car as such.

So its not excessive if someone wants a big bed?
Unless somebody wants to share it with a team of Playboy Bunnies then two normal double beds would probably make more sense. MC Bodge said:

Maybe the person in the Bentayga thought the extra outlay in money is worth it? And so they got it. That's not a problem, so let them enjoy their car, and I suspect their big house with a big bed too.

The size of a bed or a house is relative. Can you explain how you became the arbiter of what is large or small? Or what is necesary or unnecessary? King size beds are good, although non-huge people can cope fine in a double. Queen size ones are excessive.

I generally start from a human scale. I have a 3 bedroom house but only 2 occupants. Is that allowed?
I saw one of these in the wild for the first time here in Poland. (Parked outside Biedronka a sort of Polish equivalent of LIDL in a pretty poverty stricken provincial town) Utterly hideous looking thing. No idea why anyone would buy one over pretty much every other vehicle available. It just looked so wrong this one was in a shade of burn orange Peugeot 206s used to come in.
The Lamborghini urus however is amazing. Utterly over the top but I sort of get it.

Depending upon what it's used for, maybe. If it had a 6 litre 12cylinder engine, it might be considered a little OTT, especially if it was used primarily for city commuting If it was bigger than a parking space, then a bit awkward too.

Why did you buy a Mondeo? Would a Dacia Sandero not be better in all your important ways?If it was bigger than a parking space, then a bit awkward too.
