Those (ISF) exhausts look naff, as 1/2 are totally fake...
Would need to drive one to form a proper opinion, styling is a bit dull for me, but each to their own.

Never understand why people make such an issue of the exhaust tips, if it it really bugs you that the chrome tips are not physically attached to the 4 exits there are plenty of aftermarket ones to choose from which replace the standard ones.

Also find me an M3 of similar vintage with 340k+ miles on the original engine and transmission.
brave pill, i dont think so..

Maybe in Germany, cars out there seem to have galactic miles in comparison to UK.
Lexus do certainly know how to make a car though and i would have a ISF.

Incorrect. They are exhaust tips which are not connected to the backbox, but there are 4 exhaust pipes exiting into those tips. Unless you look very closely you can't tell that there is a gap. It would be better if they were connected, but it does help keep the tips clean from soot.

Yeah, nah. I see the IS-F as the next step on from the E39 M5, given that extra litre of capacity.

This is in no way a brave pill. Rather it's a peace of mind pill. I've owned one for 4 years now and zero issue. Also have a 997 Turbo S which is actually younger and has a rep of bullet proof reliability but can't say the same about. An M3? I have never even considered one and never will. Just a generic sporty sedan for those who are image concious. Their McPherson strut suspension instead of double wishbon at the front and divorced spring and damper set up at the rear say it all: cost cutting. Yea, Struts can be just as effective like on my Turbo but BMW are not Porsche.

Owned one for almost 9 years, apart from the water pump and a few electronics the car was bullet proof. The engine/gearbox/steering combination is brilliant.

I had an 08 model, with the stiffer suspension. You eventually got used it, I used it as a daily driver.

I bought mine from the finance company for £12K, drove it for 6 years and 50,000 miles and sold it for £15K. In the end it was a bargain, a very fun bargain!

Oh nice! I stand corrected...Japanese stuff not my strong area, as you can probably tell...had it in my head that it was bigger than a 4.0 but hadn’t realised it was that much bigger...
No worries. The PH article states it was a 4.0 litre as well.

Still fake, though I see what you mean...

The ISF definitely feels faster than an M3 in everyday driving as it has bags more torque but still loves to rev. If you are in the wrong gear in an e92 M3 you will get dropped by a GTD Golf. The lexus will pull from down low. Sounds way better inside and out too.
I know that it shouldn't really matter but I was getting sick of getting dropped by diesels(initially but eventually I'd catch up and get past if the road was long enough) when I had my E92 M3. They can feel incredibly flat if you are in the wrong gear for sure. I do have very fond memories of some fun with a X3 35d though and that dropped me twice to start with.

In the end I thought that if you can't beat them you may as well join them...so I got a 640d instead! hehe The E92 M3 is a pretty poor daily driver imo with the way it delivers its performance all at the top of the revs.

Neither are special enough for a second car, definitely not the M3 which may as well be a 320d if you’re plodding along.
Yes and that was another gripe of mine...that when you were stuck in traffic it was just like being sat in a 320d...but a 320d that only does 18mpg!! biggrin
