3piece clutch kit for a Camry £286 retail from ECP fits.
Lotus will try to charge double that in a 'Lotus' box. It's the same make..
It's the fact that you need to remove the rear half of the body shell to change the clutch. Yeah, dismantle the body panels and everything to get to the clutch. 3piece clutch kit for a Camry £286 retail from ECP fits.

Taking the clamshell off isn't really that big a job on them, its the fact you have to remove the engine that adds a lot of time.Love the Evora and really like the purple. What a car, keep those gratuitous photos coming! I am also chuffed that the Alpine head unit was upgraded to DAB a number of years ago as the old unused RDS units made their way onto eBay for a big saving. So every time I start up my VW T5 Shuttle the Lotus badge comes up. Can't bring myself to change it!
My Daytona blue Evora gets loads of postive attention from random people. When our our road trips it attracts as much attention as the Ferrari's and way more than the various Porsches, so you have to be ok with attention. Quite often when I use it for a run into the cotswolds, when we are parking my wife says "why are people looking at us" before it twigs
I agree though that they are difficultt photograph
Here is my lowly evora

I think its because of the height of the cab. I'm 6ft tall and there is a massive space above my head when I'm driving it. I'm sure a few people benefit from this more than me and it maybe even gets Lotus a few more sales from loftier people too. However, I can't help but think that the profile view of the car would be a lot better if it was an inch or two lower along the roofline.Thorburn said:
How come the 400 front end on an S? Purely preferred the look or did the original get dinged?
Original got dinged (previous owner). It was really minor cracks, and Lotus apparently had old style bumpers on back order, the 400 one was readily available. It worked for me as I prefer the 400 front to the original and the current GT front is even better.
Daytona Blue seems to be a bit of a "wow" colour, my previous Evora was Storm Titanium which was less visible.
The clutch thing is a bit of a shame with the Evora it is a 3k job and no surprise that at some stage it will need doing. The early cars and particularly the ones with the short ratio gearboxes had issues (SR with the gears breaking...the gear that Lotus opened up the box and swapped out!) Electrics on the S1 can be a pain not to mention the age old Lotus issue of the AC never working. They are a challenge to retail we rarely have them in as I rarely get offered ones that are "safe" enough to put out with warranty (which we do in house).
In the context of other similar cars it's not too bad. It's easy to overlook because you can buy older cheaper variants but for a 100k retail car the running costs generally are comically low. A service is under £300 tyres aren't as expensive as a 911 and here's an interesting observation a clutch on an Evora is cheaper than a damper on a 570S. Extended warranty isn't something I've even thought about for the Lotus I don't think Lotus even have any official warranty product. You wouldn't have a GT3/4 without some sort of warranty.

Im not so sure there is an established clutch life as such with the Evora. The early V6 Exiges also had some issues.
The last Evora I sold had 42k on its original clutch and showing no signs of any issues. Im not really sure where panic would set in. Depends on use/ driving style but there is certainly no intrinsic design issue with the car. Some of the early cars had actuation issues and there was a heat shield added to the clutch pipe but it does seem to have tarnished the car's reputation a little which is a shame. If nothing else it's an opportunity to throw an LSD in!

Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious? But what am I saying, in order to pretend to be a proper PH car bore enthusiast, only a Lotus or Caterham will do.. Either way massively preferable to that pig ugly, god awful, French four pot RCZ equivalent.
Anecdotally I do remember a friends Exige burning up at the side of the A57 some years ago after the fuel line came off and sprayed a plume of flames out over the car. (luckily he was unhurt, physically at least..) irrespective, that day he swore never to buy another.

Really love the photos of them on this thread.
Me too... It's making me get all classified twitchy.I nearly bought a V6S before my first Mustang... Went as far as putting a deposit down. On the second viewing just decided I couldn't live with one as a daily, the electrics were too frail. These newer ones though look bang on.
