Did you try Arnold Clark, by the way?

I input some details for what I assume is a similar car from the BMW Approved Used site and AC came up with £24.4k whereas WBAC said £23.5k with the same details.
No but I’m not selling until around 9-10 March. AC are based a long way from me.

Fair enough, I thought they were all over the U.K.

I live near Sudbury, Suffolk. The nearest AC branch is in Milton Keynes.

I’ll be selling around 9 March unless my new car arrives earlier.

I've found my car on their BCA site and is due to be auctioned on Saturday so will be interesting to see how much they make!

17 plate mazda 3 sport nav - they paid me just under 10.5k.

I sold my car to Mike Brewer Buys Your Car a few years back. Don’t think that service is offered now but it was straight forward and a grand more than wbac. Possibly why they don’t buy anymore.

Depending who buys it, the parent company will either make several hundred pounds in buyer's fees or several hundred pounds in dealer stock funding charges on top of the hammer price.

Correct, I'll explain why.

If you enter your car privately it'll go into the section that no one trusts. Maybe the "multi vendor" section.

It used to be the first section going through at BCA Bedford. Not many of the regular buyers dare bid on them, they were quite often problem cars.

I got caught a few times over the years so I ignored them in the end.

The WBAC stuff goes through as UKCGR in various guises.

UKCGR Select

UKCGR Trade

UKCGR Low mileage

UKCGR No reserve

It's all about buyer confidence when buying at auction and the section your car goes through counts very much.

I used to buy 4/5 cars a week there, all from Leaseplan, Blackhorse, Sytner, Lex etc...

I avoided like the plauge Dealer direct, multi vendor, Croyland.. As did pretty much all the other dealers did.
Thanks, I wasn’t aware of that. smile

Thanks for everyone's help with this.

Threatening to report the vehicle stolen to police and taking to twitter and facebook sorted them out and payment has been received.

Never again lol
Did you get your £25 back?
Nope but I did complain and they said it'll be refunded in the next week or so.

And another yes

Also just sold a bike via some "webuyyourbike" type place... they sent someone round the house to pick the bike up, and I had my money in my bank before I could fill in the DVLA V5 new owner link.
Contrastingly, I had a quote from one of those (We Want Your Motorcycle, I think it was) and they offered my HALF of the market value.

Average market price is £6k (with little variation either side), they offered me £3.8k laugh

I think I might be having a similar issue with WBAC. Sold vehicle to them on 20th, opted for next working day so supposed to be paid 21st. Didn't receive anything. Emailed them, no response. Called the site that took the car and got no answer all day.

Now nearly 8pm on the 22nd and still havent received my money.

I was thinking of emailing them to say they are now in breach of contract and the next call will be to the police to notify them the car has been stolen. I know it's extreme but I think unless people start doing things like this, these companies won't learn their lesson.

I don't have facebook or twitter so that isnt really an option for me

WeBuyAnyCar Team,

Following my prior email, you have failed to make payment by 8pm yesterday as per the agreed terms and conditions of our contract for the sale of xxxx xxx. If you provide evidence that the payment was made yesterday as demanded, and, paid for by me, no further action will be taken provided that the payment due of £26,565.26 is received by 12 noon 23rd April 2021. If you do not provide evidence the payment was made yesterday, you are in breach of our contract.

You have until 12 noon 23rd April 2021 to respond after which the vehicle will be reported to the Police as stolen and a small claims court case filed against your company for the full amount owed plus damages.

Sincerely

Too strong? I am pretty furious tbh. What excuse is there for being unable to make a same day payment in this day and age? I make same day payments from London to New York and it arrives in 15 minutes. These guys can't make an internal payment within the UK within 48 hours?

Remove the bit about reporting it as stolen. If you call the police and explain the circs they won’t be interested. It’s a civil debt all day long, so the part about small claims is accurate and entirely appropriate.

you mention contract, what does it actually say in it.

Hold on a minute. I sign a document to buy a vehicle in a dealership. I get in the car and drive out before I've actually paid them.

Is this a criminal offense of theft or is it a civil debt? I think it's criminal

it details the vehicle.

It says funds will clear into the nominated bank account on Wednesday 21 April 2021 before 6pm if you have selected next working day payment, and all in other cases before 8pm.

It has my bank account details and WBAC signature and my signature.

It says they will report the vehicle sold to the DVLA

And then the standard T's&C's
