I thought it felt like it was tripping over its front axle under hard braking. I had an R26.R at the time and thought the chassis on that was better. Amazing engine - my friend still has his.
thumbup We’re all different I guess. The 20 is much sharper than the 26r as well.
That's not to say I wouldn't buy one. My friend talks about selling his but no firm price has yet been given. idea
What number is it?
I'm not sure. He's owned it from new, so I'm guessing he will keep it. I recall a run of 2.2 engines being made as well.
2.2 engines for the renaults or the hondas?
Hondas

Oh wow, was not aware of that model even existing. Bet that's a pretty special car to drive.

In terms of a drivers car......is this the best civic type r ever made?
Not in my view. I think the FK2 is more engaging, and the limited edition Mugen 20 before it is much more immediate and engaging.

This is probably the quickest to date (unsurprisingly).
The Mugen 20 had a fantastic engine but I don't think the chassis was half as good.
The FD2 Mugen RR is pretty special too. Could well lay claim to the best civic type r ever.

Personally my favourite is the EK9. The comical shift on the v-tec never fails to raise a smile.....such a shame these NA screamers are gone!

Don’t think they ever sold the 2.2. It was the 2 litre fettled by Mugen. Only sold 15 or 16 apparently.
