Pretty poor effort, you haven't even parked centrally between the two cars tongue out

How many backward and forward movements did that take, and did you have enough time left on your parking ticket to go anywhere?
I was closer to the mini, but I couldn't get my bag out the boot. Moved it forward so I could, but I still couldn't get the boot open! Had to drag it out with the boot. Adjar!

The reason I parked here and not the other side of the road where there was loads of space was this is unrestricted free parking.

I reckon it might have been 7 to 10 shuffles hehe

Nice...

I once put an excellent parking attempt on here and got similarly shouted down.
But in all honesty, who the fk parks without dry steering? No one that I know.

One time in Dartmouth I drove round and round and found what seemed to be the only parking space in the whole town. It was a bay where some tt had gone over the line leaving a space about 3 inches wider than a Rover 200. I reversed in and had to climb out the window then get in via the boot to close the window.
Eta...

Excellent work.

Although would it not have been easier to just climb over and get out from the passengers side?

Anybody else care to admit they've never heard of 'dry steering' before?
Got to say I’ve been on here for years despite my post count and I’ve never heard of this before.
It's something my driving instructor would go on about every time I practised parking. No doubt because he valued his tyres.

Extra points for doing that in an fwd car! Does a polo have an unusual good max steering angle to get the front swinging in? Did you have someone guiding you, if not was there any contact (even just a touch)?

It's a golf, and I don't think it's anything other than normal steering angle.

No one guiding me, and I didn't feel any touches. If I did it was so soft I didn't notice.

The size of that gap, you can't get up enough speed to do any damage anyway.

Call me miserable, but that’s pretty anti-social and wkerish, unless the cars either side had completely unobstructed exits. If the other cars have also been left small gaps there is no way your average driver would be able to exit.

Skilful, perhaps. But a real ’s trick and potentially fully deserving of some criminal damage on your own motor there.

And you only have to have the smallest and slightest contact with another car’s bumper to leave marks in the clear coat, so even though you didn’t feel any contact there’s the possibility that you did and you’ve needlessly damaged someone else’s property.

Quoted for the sheer ridiculousness of this post!

If you'd read the whole thing you'd have seen I've posted a bunch of times that both cars has loads of space.

Deserving or criminal damage? Really! Ffs.

I didn't feel a touch. And your comment about touches damaging clear coat, that means every parking attempt could then if you don't feel it. Just a ridiculous comment

Good old PH positivity on this thread as ever hehe
I park on that very same road every day and it's nice to see some decent parking instead of the usual idiots who park at 90 degrees to the kerb and block the pavement.

I knew you were around Leeds Uni a bit - what do you drive? Most have seen you posted up before, I'm there all the time. I'm the powerlifting coach at the university

I'll keep a look out for you and the Golf.
I've got a blue '07 Micra.
Definitely not PH, but ideal for parking on campus. hehe

There's a layby near my office that's free, unrestricted parking all day until the pay and display machines eventually go in. It's on a bit of road that was pedestrianised but the local council has opened it up again in a rare fit of common sense and not set up the parking regulations yet.

It can fit five cars if people park up to each other, with plenty of room for people to get in and out of the spaces. Very often I'll arrive in a morning to find people have just swung in and left their cars where they've stopped and the layby has been taken up with just three cars and no room to park in between.

I could squeeze my old manual A3 into a tight space easily. It's not so easy in my new automatic with auto hold. It applies when I'm manoeuvring slowly and needs a firm push of the accelerator to disengage it. Something I can't do when I'm close to another car.

If i came back to my car to see I'm wedged in by some bellend like you, your excellent non contact parking wouldn't matter, because I'd certainly be making contact when squeezing out of my space.

I think you probably need to evaluate your idea of what’s ridiculous!

Anyway....sure, the car with double yellows behind them won’t have an issue but the other car could face difficulty if someone else hemmed them in from the other end. Is it really that difficult for you to grasp that?

You’ve potentially needlessly inconvenienced another driver - it’s antisocial and you’ve got to be pretty hard-of-thinking to not realise that.

Regarding criminal damage; if you think there aren’t people out there who wouldn’t just reverse straight back into your car then you’re very much deluded. There will be people out there who’d call a mate, wrap a tow rope round your offside wheels and drag you out sideways down that T-junction that you’ve handily parked opposite. Some people are mental!

You’re on a car enthusiasts website so I assume you’re fond of your Golf, so why would you even put your pride and joy in that situation? I park all my cars at the far end of car parks to avoid dheads like you who do this kind of thing.

Sorry for the mini-rant (and I’ve just wasted ten minutes of my life writing this) but this kind of thing just winds me up. I came back to my car recently and someone had parked next to me leaving a six inch gap, their wing mirror was inside my own wing mirror. As a fellow thoughtless parker you’re receiving the brunt of my frustration.

Mindless and pointless as it is, I’ll still give you credit for getting it into that gap, though. I couldn’t do it myself.
