The Bentley, no question for me, although it'll be a 200k car once you've spec'd it up, the Merc would be almost half the price and that makes it the bargain of the group, the McLaren seems like an upmarket version of a Lotus Europa S to me not sure that worked either being neither one nor t'other, I'd love a 720S though.

McLaren is comically over-wheeled.

Everyone knows the best GT is the Porsche 911. Immensely comfortable, plenty of luggage space, and a nice place to sit.

That McLaren is one of the least cohesive, most contrived cars I've ever seen.

Ugly, ungainly and barely fit for purpose. More niche filling nonsense from Woking.

And because it's so confused and poorly styled I wouldn't be surprised if it's depreciation is even worse than its sportier, better looking siblings.

If that's possible...
Yep entirely agree.
Ditto.

McLaren's Lotus Europa.
I very much doubt it will sell more than 10% of the Lotus (Elise) Europa's production (456 off).

Really? No more than 45 sales?

Fancy a bet?
If so, name the amount you’d like to wager as I’ll bite your hand off.

There are plenty of markets outside UK and Europe. Big markets like China & North America where a supercar with a bit more comfort is an easier sell than a spine warping Lamborghini.

That said, it’s not comparable to the cosseting luxury of a Bentley in the GT stakes.

I think Dan summed it up about right.

I would have agreed with you but I simply can’t cope with what they have done to the interior - it’s going to age like an 80’s hifi!

Shame that DB11 was omitted from this test. Whilst not as luxurious as the Conti, it’s arguably more sporty and therefore a good ‘bridge’ from the McLaren to the big coupes. I can’t help but think it would have provided an interesting contrast, especially in V12 AMR form.

I really like the styling of the Continental. It now looks far more cohesive overall than the Mercedes which looks a little awkward from some angles. The relative simplicity of the Merc's interior, being bereft of masses of buttons, does look good though (with the exception of the air vents maybe). As for the Mclaren; I can see why it would appeal to some but for me personally I would only ever consider one of their models as an out and out driving machine, I'd never want one as a GT (assuming that at some point I am in the position to make such a decision). Has any mid engine car ever matched the F1 for luggage carrying ability? The Pagani has decent boxes but more of a faff to access. Porsche Boxer does a decent job. Struggling to think of any others that provide genuinely usable space off the top of my head.

Indeed. Wraith is a wonderful GT car. That said, I'm really not a convertible fan but I adore the Dawn. New Ghost out this year and Wraith the year after I think. Wraith is quite a step up in price over this lot though!

The RR starts at £258k before options.

You can have the Merc for £100k.

For just a little bit more, I'd just buy a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The perfect do everything car to blat around Europe in, or anywhere for that matter.

For me it would be

1. Bentley
2. Mercedes
3. Mclaren

But tbh I’d rather have a FF or a lusso before the mclaren
And I’d rather have a Porsche Panamera superturismo before the mclaren

Cayenne Turbo is an SUV not a GT car.

RR Wraith is in a completely different price bracket (and GWIM is a Troll).

That Maclaren is beautiful. Shame all I’ve read about maclarens lately is how unreliable they are.

Yeah, Wraith has to be the ultimate GT today.
1. It's too big to drive around in.
2. It doesn't handle
3. It doesn't have AWD so it's not as year round capable.
4. I think it looks kind of ugly

Yes, you can't beat a Silver Cross for old school reliability.

1 - people drive bigger things without problems
2 - says who? It's more than capable enough for a GT car. My old LS460 almost certainly handles worse than a Wraith and I've yet to die.
3 - oh my, what will we do without 4WD? I'm pretty sure it'll be fine if you don't drive it like an oaf in the wet, and would you want to be taking out a big GT in the snow anyway? My experience of 4WD performance cars in the snow is 4 wheels slipping instead of 2.
4 - subjective so I'll grant you that. I quite like it, but prefer the Dawn
