Nah, dog-turd brown was a choice on the Chevette and Maxi! It just went into hibernation during the Silver / White era.

Re: static wicks. Those would have been useful during Chicago summers when constantly-running Aircon and low external humidity results in constant static shocks when stepping out of the car. I still use the one-hand-on-doorframe technique to avoid that even back in Bligjtly.

It's probably already been said, but white cars. Bonus points if it's a Nissan, Audi or BMW. I'm not sure of the appeal.

I'm also a hypocrite though, as I like the white integra type R, mk1 and mk2 MR2 etc.

On the right car, a nice bronzy brown looks great. What doesn’t look great is the almost Matt crap brown Austin Maxis used to have.

For whatever reason I used to body repair a lot of the poo brown Minis, Maxis et al. You’d think the rot wouldn’t show, but it did.

My ex girlfriend's dad has a photo, pride of place, of him and her mother stood in front of his Sierra. Complete with their names over the windscreen, in fake Diablo SV font. I like it quite a lot, but it infuriated her as she had to live through the school run in it.
