I had one. Can't remember exactly when, some time around 2006 I think. Red, UK spec Twin Turbo. Fantastic car. Managed 155 with the roof off on the M3. Sold it to some lad in the army who took it to Germany where it was written off in a flood in 2009.
Lovely. I'd like one in Red as well.
My 200SX was in Red and that looked lovely all polished up.
Remember Top Gear pitching one against a 350z in a drag race and it wiped the floor with it

That illustrates why I prefer Turbos to NA generally. For outright performance a turbo(or 2) is very hard to beat. Plus they always feel quicker as well for me. https://youtu.be/RrO-Phu3Hbw

Had one of these for over 8 years, was supremely reliable and relatively cheap to run (aside from rear tyres). Was sorry to see it go tbh...
It also had hydraulic rear steering, similar in action to what Porsche do now, was well ahead of its time imo...
I loved the look of them at the time and the tech was pretty cool.It also had hydraulic rear steering, similar in action to what Porsche do now, was well ahead of its time imo...
Would have loved a 300 but the budget said 200 :-(

No too long ago 12k would have gotten you a very good R33 GTR and 300ZX struggled to break through 6k barrier. If only that time machine worked.
I came within an ace of buying an r33 GTR in midnight purple that was in great nick and had a modest 600bhp for £14k a couple of years ago. Had to pass it up at the time but saw it sell and immediately resell for closer to £20k. Prices on the Japanese legends have gone mental, but I suppose a good GTR is still a performance bargain, whereas the £20k RS Turbo Escorts and £30k capris doing the rounds now are taking the proverbial. No too long ago 12k would have gotten you a very good R33 GTR and 300ZX struggled to break through 6k barrier. Driven 3 of these, 2 were a owned by a pal, both turbo and atmospheric ,highly competent cars, can carry 4 (non Teletubbie people!) at a pinch, nicely balanced and (obviously) on a good set of tyres pretty trustworthy, somewhat underrated however this price seems a little strong ...but then again maybe not!

It's a lesson not to put things off for too long I guess.

The Skyline was a Japanese Legend, The Homer isn't.Give me a Supra or an RX7 any day of the week over one of these.
Loved this car. My Dad had a 1990 TT done up white on white (white leather interior, white exterior and even white wheels). I had a 1986 NA 300zx (not the 2+2). Different models but we were definitely a Z-car house. As others said though, you went through back tyres like water. I think mine was worse with the negative camber in the ‘86. The sound of the 350s, 370s (and GTRs) is so very similar in tone to that 1990 that I can usually pick them out in the distance. Mine had about 200,000miles on the clock when I sold it and it was dead reliable the whole time. Just maintain them and they keep going.
Apart from the horribly fragile auto gearboxs, these are reasonably low maintenance cars.
Sadly, mine wasn't. The box slipped in first, wouldn't go when in D but would when the stick was in 1. The starter had stripped some teeth so sounded like an industrial cheese grater having a go at some screws. Eventually the water pump killed it when it failed after a blade went on a jolly around the engine.
Oddly enough, I really liked it! I would have another in a heartbeat, but it would have to be a manual. It sounded great with it's 5" exhausts, especially when on boost. You knew it was a turbo, the Flying Kettle was it's nickname. It seemed to have character, which a lot of Japanese cars don't. It certainly took care to drive it, especially when turning from a T junction and the turbos wake up all at once!
