I really dont think you can entirely classify hundreds of thousands of people based on driving a car with a specific badge.

There may be traits but you perhaps spot them because you are actively looking for it, where you may not notice the driver of something else doing the same thing.

I know folk who love to categorise whole swathes of the population based on other factors, its nice and easy for their small brains to pigeonhole like that, then they meet a person from that group who is charming and it blows their mind.

But they then maintain that all the rest are still a bad lot, its amazing that they lucked out and managed to meet the only decent person out of a few hundred thousand, what are the odds !!!! or is it just things arent that simple ?

And what does even mean, unpleasant slang for female genitalia, what personality traits do you need to display to fit into "being a " ?

I can't blame owners of a particular brand or type of car for being a bit defensive.

Thing is it's not that drivers of BMWs or any car considered expensive are by default morons. I suspect it's more that those kinds of cars appeal to those kinds of people so in turn they drive like ar$es. It doesn't mean that everyone who buys a high end car drives like that as the appeal may go beyond the badge or price.

So I'd imagine as people that consider cars to be a hobby, many on here would buy a car based on how it drives, how it looks, how it sounds etc. A list of what many would consider nerdy.

I drive an S Class which I suppose technically falls into the bracket of the cars mentioned. I bought it for a list of reasons none of them being related to it's price, size or being a pig of a driver. In turn I don't think I am and strive to be a decent driver.

I've no doubt there's a percentage of drivers in expensive, high end cars who laud it up and do drive like nobs. Doesn't mean it applies to everyone who owns that car/brand.

Ripping the piss out of the overly vain, pretentious or aspirational frantically striving to create a image of wealth and material success particularly when there's either a distinct Whiff of Cock or Essex Geeeeezah involved is one of my guilty pleasures.

It's invariably the most guilty who bite back so if such loadsakinfaaamoney, in 'yer face vulgarity is not your thing either then enjoy the fireworks. biggrin
This says a lot more about you then I think you would like it to. The reason why they call them guilty pleasures is because you should feel guilty about it. They are slightly shameful.

Timomak is one of the least impressive trolls on here. I don't know why anyone bothers responding to his nonsense. (Irony of my response appreciated, obvs)

'No, no, no,' I said, 'the BMW drivers are the s. These people are Audi drivers.'"

So many defensive indignant remarks from BMW drivers on this thread !

I must admit I cringe every time I see a BMW or Audi on the road (not because of the inevitable lack of use of indicators) but because it reminds me of years ago when I ran a team of nearly 200 senior engineers / middle managers who all got company cars. 50% of the issues they raised were along the lines: "I've been here longer than him why does his 3 series have xyz feature and mine doesn't, I need a better car or his needs down grading...". Of all the issues we had they would always make the most noise about some perceived one-upmanship someone had over them in their car. By contrast never heard a peep from all the Mazda, Peugeot, Jaguar, Ford, Volvo etc drivers who, in my opinion, had shown themselves to be individuals and hadn't simply followed the herd to keep up with the Joneses and have the "right" car on the drive to do so.

Hence when I see a BMW/Audi I cringe because it reminds me of all the petty squabbles from the staff that chose them. I'll forever associate those marques with a particular type of character person... and the research seems to support my view !
But that isn't true of all BMW owners, just the BMW drivers you were dealing with!

I'm sure none of those cars was more than 3 years, or 5 years at most, old.

I have 2 BMWs, but they are both well over 10 years old and IMHO fit a totally different ownership demographic at that age.

Still if that makes me disagreeable I don't really care. laugh

I drive a BMW, my Father used to drive one, and my Grandfather is on his 3rd.

I will encourage my children to drive them, and my grandchildren.

laugh I've had over 9 BMW's... tried the lower orders, but just awful. Currently in a Hyundai i800 for work, truly shocking quality frown
