Yeah, article only mentions "lifted stance" but the pics show portals on the wishbones at the front. This is interesting and makes me wonder whether you could (successfully) add portals to a GL which is independent all-round.

There are companies in both Germany and the USA that sell bolt on portal axles for the G class. €20K from Germany, about $23K from the USA. There is nothing special about this, and their availabe for Landrover, Jeep etc

This company even does them for the Suzuki!
