Fiiirrrrsssstttt, Seeeeccccccoooooonnnnnnd. That's all folks, well over 70mph.
^^^ ThisIt's a problem for many fast cars and made worse in these as they don't have ridiculous amounts of power they were just deliberately handicapped.
If they had a close ratio box they'd be great fun

These are now cheap to the point you could create a great project. Buy a good bodied car with a knackered engine, put a 3.8 litre carrera engine in, have a bespoke final drive ratio fitted that took second gear to under 60mph, rebush refresh and upgrade the suspension and anything else that needs doing, put some good rubber on 17 or 18 inch wheels and you'd have a great car.
I came across just such a car this week.2007 2.7cc which needs the engine looking at, even with just 31,000 miles on it.
I may go down the route you've suggested in the car comes into my ownership.

Although the car disappeared from Autotrader the day after I met the chap.
He said he was going to speak to the garage that had been looking after the car to see if they wanted to buy it, as is.
I guess that's what's happened.

I suspect you will have a fair few to choose from.Although the car disappeared from Autotrader the day after I met the chap.

Another satisfied owner here. I’ve had my 3.4 manual for 7 years taking it from 50-90k miles.
It’s still excellent to drive and has been very reliable. Uses no oil, does high 20s mpg and feels better put together than 98% of stuff that I sit in.
Front tyres have done 40k miles and rears about 30k with some left to go!
It’s cost me about £1k pa in depreciation and a lot less than that in running costs, epic car for the money.
