Oddly, they've knocked nearly 7 grand off and inexplicably still nobody has bought it.

Saw this beauty in Southampton. Imagine putting plastic bin lids on an R8's wheels and then lowering it so much the aftermarket skirt sort of thing almost scrapes the ground...

Remove the graphics and change the wheel colour that's a nice car imo.
Agreed. Tasteless as presented IMO but not obviously badly executed. And pretty easily reversible.

At least that one is funny.
Yeah made me chuckle so it's ok. Plus I guess there's a reason for it such as prop for TV show etc rather than someone thinks it's the nuts!

I am still trying to work out what is going on here. Have they covered the roof with fabric to make it appear its a convertible with the roof permanently up?
It seems to have the Newport Convertible conversion.

In what world is that acceptable?

That will be on air. Press a button and up it goes for regular driving around.

I sound old here, but then what’s the point? So that it looks good but only whilst parked?

Yes. To stand out at car shows/cruises and in general. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDTQ8CbgvXk

Rides pretty well also. There’s a reason range rovers and stuff are on air.

More comfy than slamming some coilovers down low as you dare go.

Yeah but not with those stickers?

It must have been overpriced to start with to knock £7k off it, peel the stickers off and it looks like a normal car. £400 would sort the wheels if they bother you.

Yes, safer to search "VDS De Vil car".

I'm no Disney fan but there is an acceptable (-ish) explanation for the existence of this car.

Back in 1961 Disney's cartoon version of "101 Dalmatians" featured Cruella da Vil's car :

By 1996 the film version of "101D" featured an aptly proportioned (and named) Panther de Ville as Cruella's wheels, albeit with a small block Chevy replacing the Jaguar engine for reliability.

So the Demi-Astra is no more than a very poorly executed homage to a 60 year old cartoon car. All is forgiven, sort of.

If they're all like that at car shows then why would it stand out?

I think that Audi needs one of those roof boxes like that NSX from a page or two back, to replace the storage room lost from the air suspension equipment hehe

The wheels are cheap replicas.

I dont mind the stripes at all - the wheels im not a fan of but could live with. My only real issue is that its a pretender - a good pretender but a pretender none-the-less.

I just think they didn't know when to stop with the stripes, the ones that go up from the front arches are particularly ludicrous. You could lose the numberplate and nobody would know it was pretending to be something that didn't exist. The wheels just look so wrong.

They do look rather good with them!

But going back to the point about air suspension it's a mix of things. Some people like it to stand out, but as you say when everyone's on air, then you don't really stand out.
For me (As my car's on air, pics in my Reader's car's thread tongue out ) and i imagine many others it's a case that I think my car looks best "Slammed" (for lack of a better word! hurl ) but I don't like all the problems that come with driving a super low car all the time such as losing everything and everyone i hold dear in life to a overly large speed bump, steep drive way or nasty car park design, this combined with the fact that for anything less than a dedicated track car or race car it really doesn't mess with the handling of any car designed to handle well. My 86 feel's just as good of a chassis with air as it would with coilovers etc.

Plus... Sarcasm how are the peasents meant to know my car is better than theirs if i can't PSSSHT my way down infront of them at a car show
(but in all honesty some people do see it as a monetary flex over others as well, hence why I make this joke)
