Badly modified cars thread Mk3

Banham was obsessed with BL toss.
He had the original RS200 body moulds and was producing body panels for owners.
He also produced a replica kit based on….. an MG Maestro….
Decent looking frog eyed sprite also on a metro base.
His adverts frequently used phrases such as “race winning chassis” obviously not mentioning it was a one make series….

RS200 was Ford

At least with that one he's able to laugh at it a little himself, with the meTTro badge on the rear. Why though did Banham decide to start with a Metro, a much smaller car? Surely using a Golf, an A3 or any of the othe VAG PQ34 platform cars would make things a lot easier? Or would VAG chuck a load of their legal might their way to stop that dead in its tracks?
Because twenty years ago when they were making these things a Golf or A3 on that platform would have been a new or newly new car to chop up, compared to a £100 Metro, and if you could afford to do that then you could probably afford to just buy a TT. They were just using what was cheap and readily available at the time, as most kitcar builders do.V8covin said:

Ah yes, of course. I wasn't considering the age of the Banham car. Instead I was thinking of an old A3 or Golf (etc) being a snotter money banger in todays market.67Dino said:

You missed the plate on that list. When i saw it discussed on another site, somebody local to the car posted that the current owner got that plate as evidently he's making it known that he's "OWNED" everyone when he's out on the road in the car - bloody hell
I suspect he doesn't know that, in some parts of the country, 'NED' is a derogatory term for an individual - equivalent of 'chav'.Yes, David, the Operations Director, I certainly see him as a NED

That’s brilliant, a true hillbilly special, they’re bound to have a little yappy dog! This is the sort of car I expect from an estate in town not rough country people!
That Range Rover will be owned by someone overweight, who wears a vest, probably shaved head, owns a staffie or other "status" dog, and believes he's the man and has made it because he's got a Range Rover. The Range Rover itself will likely have a warning light on the dashboard, probably for air suspension failure, maybe an engine management light and ABS light, and will be the TD6 or V8 on lpg.

Quite, rough country people would have an old Disco TD5 with the fuelling turned right up.

Other car will be a 200,000+mls ex-police 5-series estate liveried and chevroned up with a Wish LED lightbar because he's a security dog handler. That drove past me yesterday. I wasn't sure at first whether it was duct tape holding the bumper on BTCC style, or some weird black graphics, so nice to have it confirmed that the tape theory was correct Edited by AlexRS2782 on Friday 29th July 20:14
530d chavved up a treat, and barely run it at 190,000 what I'm sure were very careful and well maintained miles. Good thing they put the spoiler on - tame the beast and all that.
I'm sure one of those "substance analysis" teams would have a field day in this thing.
