"Pink Lady" built by the Swedish guy who did paint and body at Boyd Coddingtons.

Very famous car from 80's in the VDub scene in the states.

Not sure if links to facebook are allowed (apologies if not), but this car was a major trophy hauler and recognised as one of the best custom VWs ever made.

To be fair, I think it's pretty hideous too - But then again, I generally can't stand VW beetles. Might be technically and structurally well done, but to some, it's pretty damned ugly

ETA - I've just looked at the Facebook links - Nope, it's still hideous

Suspect it's of it's time, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that...

My thoughts too. Sure, it’s a bit of custom history and very much of its time, as you say. However, even back then I remember thinking it was bloody awful.

Alot of styles and trends can seem just plain wrong when looking at them, whether it's the max power cars, 60's gassers, bosozoku etc etc.

Trends and styles change over time, doesn't always mean all cars from different cultures and styles are badly modified.

Pink Lady is a niche of a niche, lowrider VW bug; but the chassis was detailed and clean enough to eat your dinner off and the bodywork modifications were all metal, not filler or fibreglass.

I don't particularly like it, never have, but understand it's from a bygone era and I respect the effort and workmanship that went into it.

Is that of the "number plate has fallen off so it's in the windscreen" brigade?

Rear plate removed too and the bumper smoothed over, but they left the number plate lights in and connected hehe

No...It IS faster than the 2020 Ferrari, or did you miss the race last Sunday ?
Anyhoo I have just seen this ad on Fleabay, and although it does not fit this category, I thought that it would be of interest as it is just like the cars that I used to draw when I was 3 years old !
The eBay item number is:- 184366053467

I like the idea of getting rid of the overhangs on a Corvette. That's a swing and a miss on the looks, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper just to buy a Smart Roadster instead of rebuilding your car to look like one?

It’s probably a charity rally car to be fair.
