I'd be tempted by something like that TT if I was after a cheap, fun car and had the opportunity to use it.

Remove lots of weight, sort the suspension, brush paint job wink, spotlamps on the front etc.

A mate had one when they were new. He never drove it hard, which seemed a bit of a waste to me. I had a remapped Mk1 Octavia vRs... which did get driven hard. His car had heavier steering and better chassis than my Octavia - not difficult...

Coding out the ESP should be the first thing someone does if the do spirited driving, or you can put an inline switch in to disable it.

The MK1 arms were edgier but this can be mimicked with cookbots or defcons.

You can also get a Powertrack insert which locks the car in a permanent 50/50 split on the haldex, or you can upgrade the controller to a blue or orange version.

The sky is the limit tuning wise with these
There's a switch on the dashboard.

The issue for me wasn't ESP, it was just general sense of weight and numbness.

On the roads it's got enough grip that understeer isn't too much of an issue but round Cadwell Park it was pretty tragic.
That dash switch is t worth st, it still interferes even when pressed, coding out with vcds or a proper inline switch kills it. Took a few trackdays initially to work out where the power loss and restriction was coming from (estimates are it interferes at about 30% when pressed) but after hard coding it improved massively.

As a stock car it is restricted and has limitations, get a bit more hardcore with it and it really starts to deliver on track, I’m 4 years into development on mine and I’ll show up a lot of faster machinery where it counts.

I like these. The crap spoiler would have to go and the alloys would need a re coat so that they aren't black but surely if you did that and looked after it you wouldn't lose any cash on this over a 2/3 year period, running costs aside?
I overpaid for mine at £2200, spent quite a bit on parts to try and get it sorted, was hard to shift, dropped it to £1500, and that was with wheels and tyres worth £700 of that. You can lose money on them, especially if you dont diy stuff, but other folk have managed to own them without any issues.

The spoiler issue, probably easiest just to source another tailgate if there are holes in the one on this, most TT body stuff is in good supply as so many being broken.

Wheel wise, would be a fiddly job, would need two cans of primer, two cans of silver, can of lacquer, sandpaper, masking tape, probably £50 or so and an hour to two hours per wheel.

Don't understand the hate this getting.
It's got black wheels.
It's got an extra rear spoiler.
It's not the greatest sports car ever.

It's £1500.....what more do you want ?

6 TTs out of 10 quattros from me.
Yep, great car for the money and to my eyes the best TT shape and the only one that works.

It was supposed to replace the corrado originally, but got its audi badge as a marketing ploy to ask more money . So i read anyway!

I have black wheels on my Cooper S and I'm not a fan either(the car is black). I'm yet to see a car where black wheels actually suit it. They are one of the worst trends to ever come out I think, and silver wheels look a million times better for me.
totally agree look like someone's nicked the wheeltrims

I've never heard that before.
The tt concept was designed at the VW audi design studio around the same time as the new Beatle concept but my understanding is it was always going to be an Audi an share parts with the 1997> A3 which arrived before the mk4 golf.

There was a 2 door concept coupe that was released later which was thought to be a Corrado and that morphed into the 5 door mk1 Seat Leon.

I 100% read this in a motoring rag but cannot remember which one.

Well, my old car looked great - unmarked cop car chic.
