A recent magazine article told me these are a £300k plus car....I like them alot but not even if I won the euro I just don't get it. Not saying they are over priced more I am not sure 300k on this versus well practically any current super car or GT.

But your money so buy what you like.

Beautiful.

But would it be road legal as a new car or do they just use old VINs?

I love all these restomod ideas, but only when they don’t destroy existing old cars to cheat registration/immatriculation rules.

They recycle a lovely old original body car with Alfas superb old twin cam, rip it all apart destroying any soul/patina and re model it into something it was never meant to be and charge those who they can see coming £stupid money..

As the owner of an Alfaholics fettled Giulia GTV your comments couldn't be further from the truth in terms of what the Banks and their team do. They help enthusiasts from every tier of 105 ownership, and would never recommend that a car in good condition be overly modified. Their work in creating these beautiful restomod GTAs has truly been a labour of love, and I remember the early issues they had in matching the paint finish on the carbon fibre panels with the rest of the car. I believe that car has gone through a number of iterations. Their attention to detail is very similar to that of Singer, while the number that they build to this spec is tiny. There are plenty of others that are more original, and they will happily help you find one and look after it for you. Mine was in good condition (bodily) when I bought it (with their help), and we decided on modest range of upgrades and enhancements. All I will say is that it drives better than any other car I own, and is the one car in my modest collection I would not sell. The purist might turn his or her nose up even at mine, but I'd rather see these cars being enjoyed on the road than rotting away.

70kg weight saving doesn't seem like much.

8% ish
At first glance I would have to admit that the weight doesn't seem like such a great savings.

Could the story here be more about the body being more rigid? Bet that's a lot more than an 8% improvement.

I think I would rather have that than any modern supercar. Not as quick but I suspect a whole lot more fun on the road. Much better looking too IMO.

Std car was about a tonne, they already saved about 100kg or more from a GT junior weight on their GTAR. Another 70kg is going some. Their own race car is bang on 750kg low limit for class if I recall so lighter still.

Despite thinking that this carbon body could be a step too far away from originality, I would absolutely love one of these

is it really an Alfa without the 'bean-can' tinny sound when closing the door (and then re-opening it and closing it again so the catch works this time)?

What historic event is going to allow a carbon bodied car to enter ?

I saw a steel bodied 105 on Tour Auto last year ,had no paint on it.
It's not a race car though, in the same way that a Singer 911 or Eagle E-type isn't. If you want a historic race car we can and have built them:-

https://www.alfaholics.com/our-cars/completed-car-...

The bare steel car you saw was probably an aluminium bodied GTA like that one if it was on Tour Auto.

Have you actually opened and closed the door of a 105 coupe or are you just trotting out crap you think you have read somewhere ?

+1 and a courageous choice of colour! Love it.

When you see one of these cars "on the street" you realise (or you should) how extraordinarily beautiful the design is. Without ridiculously over blown styling (I'm looking at you Ferrari) or silly doors (yes Lamborghini and McLaren, you) they are perfect in every detail. Delicate and exquisitely proportioned.
