Anybody won one of those car lotteries?

The odds on some of these comps are pretty rubbish, but I keep finding myself entering. I guess it's worth the odd fiver or so to have a couple of days of dreaming.
Not sure on the rules around naming them here, but the family one based in Devon has pretty decent odds, typically between 999 and 2999 entries for most of their comps (and their live draws are actually good fun to watch). They also typically get the cars off on a transporter within a day or two, delivered for free. The one in Norfolk that gets through at least 5 or 6 (typically modified/blacked out) cars a week has much longer odds, but entries are much cheaper so it kinda balances out. Then the biggest one that gives away 10+ cars a week is pretty much in between, they have some excellent stock and do a mix of expensive, 900-1500 entry draws and cheaper ones with 10,000+ entries.
Those are the only 3 I bother with as they all have guaranteed end dates that are very rarely more than a week from launch.

I think that sounds like the only 3 I bother with as well - first one RC, second one 7D, third DCG? I like RC as they do get lower odds cars and often do nice Defenders and VW campers. The one in Norfolk that gets through at least 5 or 6 (typically modified/blacked out) cars a week has much longer odds, but entries are much cheaper so it kinda balances out. Some of these companies must be absolutely raking it in - I see a couple that do massive cash draws (i.e. £20,000) every couple of days and sell 10,000 tickets at £3, it's almost like printing money.
Indeed, however they'll be quick to tell any "haters" in the comments section that it costs a lot to advertise you know! These business' always seem to attract the same comments; 'scam', 'it's only worth half of what tickets prices are', etc. People don't seem to realise that there are costs involved, including transaction fees, advertising, website, tax, wages and all that. For me, to win a car for a few quid is amazing, regardless of how much money they make. Good on them for doing well.
Oh, and as mentioned on a couple of other threads, I won an Impreza STI a while ago. Made 9k on a £22 ticket.

Livinglifefast has also started his own one - LLF Games.
Seems to be the hot thing to do right now.
Good luck to them, but a car still listed that's sold out/been drawn, and a PS4 that is listed as having a live draw on July 5th doesn't inspire confidence in an industry constantly accused of being dodgy or a scam.Seems to be the hot thing to do right now.

I've just had a tenner on a few tickets. Why not? I don't play the lottery, so this can be my vice.
That being said, I do not agree with the constant pop-ups of new raffle competitions on Facebook. Everyone is at it. They should be properly regulated, as it's essentially gambling.
They are set up as 'Free draws with a paid entry route' to avoid any sort of meaningful regulation (apart from BoTB, which is a skill competition). That being said, I do not agree with the constant pop-ups of new raffle competitions on Facebook. Essentially that means they have to offer (and actually process) postal entries as well as taking paid entries online and treat them in exactly the same way. Without this they don't exist, basically. I've tested this quite extensively with the companies that offer guaranteed end dates and it's fair to say some take their responsibilities a little less seriously than others. Two of the companies I mentioned earlier have processed every single entry I've sent in, the other, biggest company has only processed about 50-60% of my entries.
There is another that site that has cars but they do extend dates, they also do a large range of (non-car) Saturday competitions (that launch on Sunday), they only process entries on Mondays, so it's impossible to enter for free. I pointed this out to them and they've ignored me, nice.
As for the explosion of companies, most do not offer guaranteed end dates and so, in my opinion, are not worth bothering with. I entered one for an R26.R a couple of months ago, I think they've still only sold about 50 tickets and pushed the end date back once again. There are only 5 or 6 companies I'm aware of that will draw on a fairly short fixed end date regardless of tickets sold, some have taken massive hits in the process.

Same as any type of gambling then.Oh, and as mentioned on a couple of other threads, I won an Impreza STI a while ago. Made 9k on a £22 ticket.
The only major I doubt I have about a lot of the ones popping up though is how legit the prizes actually are. I'm sure a few have been caught out to be using a predetermined number generator.

Yeah - there are loads of really dodgy looking ones popping up on Instagram almost constantly. I stick to DCG. It is gambling, i agree, but, like the lottery, it's more low-risk, high reward; just with better odds of winning. Obviously, as mentioned, the odds fluctuate between which company you're going with. There's also now people raffling off things like houses. I know there's a fairly popular one going in my areaat the moment, which is a family who are moving to Australia and are raffling off their house and their car for £2 a ticket. It's definitely a different ball game to chucking money away into various gambling machines and what-not, but it is still gambling all the same.

I don't do BOTB because i'm ste at spot the ball! HAve they changed it now?
It’s still spot the ball for the car competition but they do a ‘lifestyle’ competition for other things, bikes, TVs, holidays etc that is a question instead. I only play the lifestyle as they have a spitfire flying experience that my dad would love! Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
