Just stumbled across this that's quite interesting...

https://competitions.vintageandclassiccarhire.com/...
I saw that too.

One for a modified Escort on 'The Give Away Guys' came up on Facebook and caught my eye, didn't get around to buying a ticket in time, but have been flooded with various competition sites advertisements ever since.

Don't know if some of these sites are better than others, some of the comments on the post where that this car has been on several competitions before.

I'm hoping the car has had the chassis issues fixed already, if not it'll definitely be getting them done. Might get a remap done too depending on how quick/fast it feels. Performance figures are very similar to my Mustang GT but i'm sure the experience will be completely different.

Also undecided on the wrap at the moment. I'm going to see what it's like in person first and maybe keep it on over the winter for a bit of protection
Brilliant win. Congratulations. I’d keep the wrap for as long as viable.

Welcome to PH. Nice to know it went to a petrolhead who will share their story.

The incorrect winner was in Spain on holiday and back in 12 days so enough time to get another Tracer in for him.

I'm worried the Arteon is a bit wide for my road and the clamshell bonnet design means there would be a danger of scraping that as well as the wing.

The rims look stupidly big as well.
Hi, I was the wrong winner of the Tracer 900GT, the real winner was just getting off a warship in Portugal and was heading home. I am currently out in Spain on a bike tour and this would have come in very handy if it was a week before.

Robbie stood by his mistake and my prize has been received

That's really good of Rev Comps. Mistakes happen - this just happens to be quite an expensive one!

Congrats to the two recent winners biggrin The whole experience is very surreal (assuming it will be similar between DCG & Rev Comps) and it does take a while to settle in. I still have the odd moment of disbelief with my Evo 2 months on smile (excuse the filthy picture, hosepipe ban and all)

As it looks like it'll be sticking around I should probably create a readers ride thread for it as I've a few bits I want to change/fix smile

Any thoughts on the Superb Giveaways RS500 comp. Added an extra month as the ticket sales were low so I think they were in for a 90k loss. Also added a £15k prize if it still doesn’t reach their ticket sale threshold (if I’ve read it right?) Loads of post on FB

I think they’ve reduced the number of tickets too so better odds.

Can understand from both sides here but I don’t think DCG/Revs/Redline etc would do it. 90k loss though!! That’s a big hit

Still getting a ticket though, RS500 these don’t pop up often! cool

That’s basically a sign of a poorly run company , or , one that is set up to offer crap cash alternatives based on x percent of ticket sales.

I have never looked at the site but no decent company would gamble it all on a mega expensive car if they didn’t have a proven track record to assure them they’d get the sales they’d need to turn a profit. Some of the sites ‘take a risk’ now and again with something odd but not to that extent.

Can't argue with that, that's a big loss for them and I'm sure many others would have tried to wiggle out of it.

Far from experienced with these competitions, however it appears to be in surface a high value car, with slightly niche appeal, only mid value ticket price, and a much hard question than most.

Not going to sell well. I'm not buy.

It's nice of them to allow 600 entries per person.... someone could lose 9k for a 1 in 20 chance of winning.

A 1/20 chance of £120k for £9,000.

Except it won’t be £120k. As it stands , the prize will probably be peanuts.

Yep massive risk putting that up as a first ever prize although it is mint tbf and how often does a RS500 pop up, they’ve got a couple nice cars up next (Focus RS, Escort Cossie) I don’t think they’ll reach their sales ‘threshold’ so it’ll be around a £15k prize. They just haven’t got the following of DCG/Revs etc yet. Bit crap for those who’ve bought a load of tickets early, some have spent a load on tickets for the car or £120k and might end up with £15k cash instead.

Not complaining though, they accepted my postal so fair play there as many don’t. I’ll buy a couple tickets towards the end of the draw. (Pristine/Rkings/Elite/Storm never do and they’ve been in the game a while….)

524hp Civic EG on DCG

I hate playing their cheap ticket/big odds competitions but there is no way I’m missing out on a chance for that one!
