You have me thinking if there is any way this could replace my XJ as the car for driving my three kids around in, as they selfishly won't all fit in an MX5. I can't be doing with the hassle of three cars.
Well, it does have rear seats, but they'd need to be small kids. paulguitar said:
Thanks. I originally decided to sell because my career working on cruise ships meant that it just wasn't getting enough use. My stepfather would take it out every couple of weeks but I was paying £50 per month in VED while working away which eventually got a bit tedious.
Now I am back home with no prospect of my job resuming any time soon, so it seems to make sense to scale back the spending a bit. I think I'm going to be very PH, and get an MX5.
Makes sense - I recently sold my Range Rover to save money for a new house, so I definitely get where you're coming from. Now I am back home with no prospect of my job resuming any time soon, so it seems to make sense to scale back the spending a bit. I think I'm going to be very PH, and get an MX5.
I used to work in tourism myself: very glad I don't anymore given recent events. Best of luck with everything - hopefully you'll be back in a barge at some points in the future.

Thanks. Yes, the future for the cruise industry is really very uncertain at present. I'd like to think we will be back but there are some real obstacles.I used to work in tourism myself: very glad I don't anymore given recent events. Going tomorrow morning to view a 2003 E55. It's covered 114k, has a main dealer service history until 2015 at 95k and then serviced privately by the owner.
Only 1 former owner.
Has a good MOT history.
It's an imported car so will get a few more details when I view the car at the dealer.
Is this too big a risk or are these cars generally ok. I don't mind spending money as and when needed but don't want a money pit at the same time.
Anyone with any experience with these cars?
I think the early cars had problems with the Valeo radiators, however if it's still ok now may already have been replaced.Only 1 former owner.

Charge cooler pump for the supercharger can sometimes go, do a few quick full throttle accelerations (eg 30-50) in succession, if the pump is on the way out then yhe clutch will kick in on the s/c.

Not far from me, but I think it's horrible, so the wallet is in no danger.
I appreciate that some may disagree with me.

Adverts gone. I quite like it, I mean I obviously don’t have a long enough barge pole or relish the idea of continually throwing money into a pit. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1228261

But as a car it’s somehow appealing. (Just not appealing enough to even consider buying)

LPG is a no go for me.
I'd be very skeptical about LPG on a Jaguar V12 simply because they run very hot enough already. I looked into it 15 years ago and at that time there were no LPG systems that could cope with 12 cylinders either so it was a lash up of two 6 cylinder systems working together, a bit like the ECUs in an early BMW V12!The C70 interior cleaned up beautifully with 4-5 hrs of solid effort (other than the standard Volvo cracking of pale leather on driver's seat). Bones are feeling it today, mind. OTOH the exterior needed only a foam and jetwashing as it's well waxed. I still haven't found anything that doesn't work.

We’ve seen the photos of the so-called W126 560TEL but here’s a short YouTube on it which might be of interest to thread:

Is Swabian-tulip-bird in it? If not, it's probably not worth bothering with. https://youtu.be/LeuMETVJUXI
