An elegant thing. Always though there were hints of Maserati Biturbo about them...
Google suggests the Biturbo was designed by Gandini, who did most of his work at Bertone... Obviously I knew this without googling.
I actually knew that but failed to join the dots before I posted. I'm going to presume these were also built by Bertone like another favourite barge of mine, the caricature 262c? And if so were also prone to dreadful build quality and horrendous rust?

I changed the oil today and the engine hasn't exploded (yet). Woo. Not sure how I'm going to keep my better half happy by getting the oil of the driveway however...
We had this a few pages ago, the best thing I found is bio washing powder mixed into a paste scrubbed in left over night then washed off
That was it! I’ve also seen cat litter mentioned. Ignore the porridge wink

I scrubbed it with fairy and it looks a bit better. Let's see how it looks when it dried in the morning...

It's something to do with the bio part of the washing powder that breaks it down, no idea what I only know how to spill the oil

Gandini did the two facelifts, the original design was Pierangelo Andreani (I almost remembered all that). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maserati_Biturbo

Just seen this on AT the King Gerald of magpies wtf
That's disgraceful.

Speaking of ruined Jaguars, mine has a developed a significant volume of water under the passenger's carpet.

It's like a horrific water bed.

I think you enjoy that, CdeG.
I am, it is true, a sucker for soiled and cheap.

I am returning to Blighty this weekend. I hope that a quick fit-type exhaust outlet will be able to sort my Lexus woes. What are the chances? An exhaust over here is very spendy.

Don't be too hasty. I'd be surprised if Jaguar's designer of those days isn't looking at that and thinking 'missed a trick there...' There is much to learn from Gerald the Magpie.

Without a pre-arranged pattern/OE part in stock? Limited. What area of England are you coming back to? Maybe consider a stainless steel exhaust custom made of it's a keeper? I've done that and sold the exhaust when breaking a car previously. Time for Autodoc to get you one? If not, ECP I guess but do it on the phone and do not trust their online parts catalogue, always cross reference an OEM part number. This is why I now prefer Autodoc...

Lots of DIY and getting dirty hands here of late. All very commendable I'm sure, but it makes me feel soiled and cheapened just reading it.
I bought a plug in thingie which I used to modify my Z4 to make the roof go up and down via the remote key today. No dirty hands, but for now I seem to have actually made the car better (for once)!

Alternative refreshments may be available.

What a quality beverage. I remember a photo of me a few years ago at an exhibition opening. Everyone standing around drinking stty box wines from plastic wine glass. Then there was me standing with a magnificent bottle of Lurgan Champagne I'd smuggled in.

Cat litter is great if you've got a big spill- I heard it once and kept a few bags in the garage.

Last year when I changed the oil on my w211 the bucket cracked when it was full, cue 4 litres of filthy diesel oil pooled on the tarmac. Couple of bags and that made it easy enough to clean up.

Sorry to add to the dirty DIY list, but I rebuilt a caliper on my E46 this week with fresh piston and seals etc as it was binding.

Ah, really? That's disappointing. I'm heading to the Salisbury/Tisbury area but thought I'd be able to turn up and get it sorted.

I don't really know which bit has a hole in, although strongly suspect that all of it needs replacement, so I don't really know what I need to order. Do Autodoc/ECP deliver to a fitting place? I've never used them.

Can T.Lex help? Not too far from Micheldever?

It's one of those jobs I've been putting off - they can either be an absolute nightmare or a doddle, thankfully it was the latter in this case. Last time, when I did the passenger side, the bleed nipple sheared off. Much foul language was used.

I can imagine one does not want their nipples sheared off. I intend to try and bleed my brakes next weekend - let's hope no shearing occurs!

Salisbury isn't TOO far from Micheldever Tyres, I don't know anyone around Salisbury though. That said, I would suspect it'd be a case of having to have a look to check which bit needs replacing and then "order it in" rather than sort it on the spot?

I cleaned the Lexus at the weekend. That is about as much DIY as my car gets from me. It's all the better for it, too hehe

Give the nipples a good soaking in penatrating fuild (quiet at the back) and have a cuppa before opening them
