Morning to all
I am in Cambridge visiting family this weekend so if there are any bargistas (BigBen?) about for an impromptu mini-gathering, let me know. I'll be in the E39 unless I can bodge on the door mirror on the CL today.
Sorry not around this weekend, shame a quick barge meet would have been great.I am in Cambridge visiting family this weekend so if there are any bargistas (BigBen?) about for an impromptu mini-gathering, let me know. I'll be in the E39 unless I can bodge on the door mirror on the CL today.

This would probably make a nice thing with a remap.
Nice, the only grumble is the BMW model badging making no sense with a 523i having a 3.0 litre engine. Bring back a 523i actually being a 2.3, I remember when all this was fields etc. This would probably make a nice thing with a remap.
(4 cylinder with comfort access will also have silver/chrome handles)
Bit of thread advice please. Outside of this bunch of weirdos do you think there would be a market for a seller specialising in the sale of W220’s?
I have a few that are road worthy and with a bit of tidying up would make fine transportation for the man about town. Rather than just butchering them.
I could offer three month warranties as we have the know how and parts to sort any issues.
Just can’t help but think they are too old and aren’t looked upon with the same fondness people have for 124s etc.
I’d need them to sell at a minimum of 2k a piece to make it worthwhile. Otherwise they may as well be chopped up.

From a business point of view I can't see it making sense over parting them out, but I like the idea and the 3 month warranty is something not many others are offering at that money in a barge and desirable cars at that sort of money are pretty thin on the ground at the moment, so perhaps give one a go and see.I have a few that are road worthy and with a bit of tidying up would make fine transportation for the man about town. W220 still has another 15 years in the doldrums and by the time it's ready to emerge, the market will be full of cheap electric cars that out-W220 the W220 with room to spare.
£1k over budget, however a nice sounding spec and reasonable miles.

This looks great and a fair price - but knowing my luck though all those consumables and danger points which need replacing would go pop approximately three minutes after I bought it. This would probably make a nice thing with a remap.
I know motorway mileage is the least stressful, but it still seems to be heading toward EOL territory for a "modern" BMW, or am I wrong?

They do indeed, but those are both XJs; X358, and X351, they look ridiculous on them too.
My bad, what I meant was on the more modern shape - which I called an XF, but is of course an XJ. It looks even more ridiculous on an X358. Edited by PrinceRupert on Friday 10th July 14:33

That looks like some horrible wart, particularly on that poor X351. I won't even bother looking at any XJ with a leaper fitted if I'm buying, a proper repair is going to involve filling the holes and spraying the entire bonnet with the risk of a colour mismatch unless you start blending it into the front of the car; and expensive job and the chances of a paint shop finishing being as good and as long lasting as the factory finish are very close to zero.I'd be genuinely ashamed to be seen driving an XJ with one fitted, and for context I went for a walk in Westonbirt Arobreturm wearing leopard print boots last weekend so I don't shame easily.
OK chaps, here’s my latest addition - 2007 SL350.
Appreciate it’s not full-barge and was outside thread-max, but hoping it will be accepted on the following grounds:
1. Large petrol engine
2. Lord gears
3. Fraction of original purchase cost
4. ‘Big’ RFL model
5. Bought unseen
6. Internet legend to offer large bills
7. Derin and r129 (briefly) has/had one
Overall I’m very pleased with it. Needs a few cosmetics sorted and some new tyres; I can sense budget creep on this one even though I plan to only keep it a year...
Forecourt shot
(does anyone else ‘treat’ a new purchase to the good stuff? I really need help.)

Have been casually browsing the classifieds as you do and came across this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STUNNING-Volvo-XC70-2-0...
If it was a D5 even with the suspect gearbox i'd have it, that interior is so much nicer than the merc/audi/bmw offerings and the steering wheel must be a pretty rare option!
