Bit of thread advice please. Outside of this bunch of weirdos do you think there would be a market for a seller specialising in the sale of W220’s?
I have a few that are road worthy and with a bit of tidying up would make fine transportation for the man about town. Rather than just butchering them.
I could offer three month warranties as we have the know how and parts to sort any issues.
Just can’t help but think they are too old and aren’t looked upon with the same fondness people have for 124s etc.
I’d need them to sell at a minimum of 2k a piece to make it worthwhile. Otherwise they may as well be chopped up.
I'll take one if you've got one in good colours, i.e. not silver over black, and the lights switch to continental. I have a few that are road worthy and with a bit of tidying up would make fine transportation for the man about town. Rather than just butchering them.

I get the economics of breaking them, but it feels a bit of a shame. Your problem, as you alluded to, is that dealing with the weirdos that would want one would be even more soul-destroying than dealing with one of us.
The 500 in almandIne black (purple/black) paint with perforated stone nappa leather and wood wheel that came in today will probably be a contender for a rescue. I’ll give it a go I reckon.
As far as the headlights being switchable I don’t know but I do have a polish customer who buys every set of bi-xenons I can get my hands on. So I’m guessing there may be some simple way of changing them over.

I was told on the X350/X358 FB forum when i mentioned i didn't like aftermarket leapers in no uncertain terms they are a factory option in America, which makes it even worse in my eyes.
Yep, when I was just starting to travel to the US regularly it took me a good while to get used to seeing so many leapers on Jags. They just look st on the newer cars (as the pic above shows)Good work on the SL350, I really really liked my R230 SL55 and naturally having sold it they have gone up in value.

Yes the silver 320cdis with taxi leather never scream out “save me”

I'd be quite interested in that. If the lights switch, and the exhaust doesn't resemble a pepper pot, I'd be be really interested. There is a red facelift near me, it's a worn looking 170,000 miler with cheap tyres and a not great MOT history. Certainly not almost £3k's worth.
With some money spent and some worn interior swapped out it could be nice. Nearer £1,500 in it's current condition though.
[/quote]The 500 could be very nice, if you are to sell them then a poor MOT history could limit there value somewhat. As you have mentioned previously, with things like rust, you may be better only selling facelift models.

Facelifts are the way to go, although I have seen a couple of rotten ones. Anything from Scotland I’m always a bit more careful with.
It’s usually the pre facelift models where the jack disappears inside the car when you try to get it in the air.
Looking through the paperwork for this car I may start a merc specialist. £9450 spent in one place over the last few years with nothing major done!

I'd like to swap them over for xenons, but seem to recall that you have to take half of the interior out to change the wiring.

OK chaps, here’s my latest addition - 2007 SL350.
Appreciate it’s not full-barge and was outside thread-max, but hoping it will be accepted on the following grounds:
1. Large petrol engine
2. Lord gears
3. Fraction of original purchase cost
4. ‘Big’ RFL model
5. Bought unseen
6. Internet legend to offer large bills
7. Derin and r129 (briefly) has/had one
Overall I’m very pleased with it. Needs a few cosmetics sorted and some new tyres; I can sense budget creep on this one even though I plan to only keep it a year...
Forecourt shot
(does anyone else ‘treat’ a new purchase to the good stuff? I really need help.)

s the engine young enough to not have the dodgy balancer shaft sprocket?
Yes. Thankfully it’s engine number is significantly ‘higher’ than those in the afflicted range. Very much appreciate all the positive comments on the car. Looking at the original brochure and options list it was closing in on £70k new. To my eyes it still looks a very fresh design and even when filling up for that photo a chap remarked that he couldn’t believe it was a ‘07.

Yup that's really nice, but isn't it pre face-lift and thus a strong candidate for golden arches (and I mean an unhappy meal)? There is some rust visible and admitted, but I mean a lot more?
There's a couple of bits on the MOT history, but being a rarer colour it'll be fine. Possibly.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
