ewand - car looks stunning and agree on the wheels. The Porsche from earlier in the thread also looks great.

Will have to dig out the photos of mine when I first got it...deep blue almost black powdercoat finish, kerbed & brake dusted to hell. Went silver, finish didn't last. Now shadow chrome which was the original colour. The wheels were totally lost when I first got it.

Black wheels were ruined when chaved up cars with flaking black wheels turned up on the scene. Just think Burberry for a similar example.

My car was on silver wheels for a period before I bought it. I thought it looked a bit odd at the time, probably because Exiges almost universally have black wheels. It's wheels were black by the time got around to buying it but I'm starting to think the silver looked okay...

This says it all. Anyone who prefers the black wheels is beyond help and is probably not too far away from wearing beige trousers with elasticated waist.
But that just says it all to me.....just from a different perspective. If any car doesn't need any more bling and benefits from subtlety it's that car in that colour.
So if that means I should be shopping for beige, what does it say about you? That you still wear your baseball cap back to front? In isolation, I like the silver wheels, but they're way too shouty for that car.

I know which is prefer.
Maybe the fad for yellow painted brakes has had it's day too, far too boastful & of course anybody can buy a tin of the stuff at Halfords.

Black looks worse, sorry.

Although I think a gold / bronze would look great against that red.

2012. Dark blue/black powdercoat when I bought it. Can't seem to find any other images from these first few months before I had them refurbed

Silver

Then kerbed one and established the original colour should have been shadow chrome so had another refurb. Think these are much better than the 'lost' look when I first got it. Black doesn't work on this car imo! Backend ride height spacer also removed since then.

When we bought my wife's white Focus ST a couple of years ago the dealer threw the black wheels in with the deal. I wish we hadn't bothered, they do nothing for me. Wheels should be silver.
when I bought my Mk2.5 Focus ST they all had black wheels. From what I remember, Ford put black on as standard at the end for run out models and silver were a pay option.

I hated black wheels and found one I wanted that had the silver wheels. Took a few months longer to do so.

Blame Vauxhall for putting them on every cheap financed Corsa.

No need to be sorry. I'm not sure I disagree and actually that angle with the silver wheels is less flattering. Looks even better with the same 100% side on view. Strange as I really wasn't taken with them at first glance. Grown on me. Not in a rush to change them but if they ever need refurbing, they may end up silver again.

On a slight tangent I've always been a sucker for the black/silver combination on cars that suit it. Someone posted an Elan earlier that had this look going on. Really like it.

So the once ubiquitous silver wheels are now shouty? It shows how invisible black wheels have taken over.

Amen to this. DC wheels are a fad, and the sooner manufacturers fk them off the better.

I think I made it pretty clear I was talking about those wheels on that car specifically, but of course, because PH...........

I’ve just had mine redone. Would look awful in black. I have never liked black wheels, it just looks like the old days where people had lost their hub caps, or possibly hadn’t cleaned them for so long that they were covered in brake dust.
Designers go to lots of effort to design expensive alloy wheels and then they get painted black and all of the detail is lost.

Cheers guys. Interestingly I put a poll on my Instagram before I did the colour change; 140 votes - 70 for black, 70 for silver. Seems black wheels split opinions. Personally, I just wish I'd done it sooner.

(Note the black on black car in the background biglaugh)
Your particular car looks much, much better on silver wheels.

I don’t think there’s an absolute answer either way. The black wheels on my other half’s previous MINI worked with all of the other black details (roof, mirrors etc).
