The black wheels on my 997 have always annoyed me. I just think they look odd:

Finally decided to get rid of the black last week. Turns out the wheels are actually pretty decent:

No regrets at all.
Really sets off the car, discs and calipers and looks sleeker as a result but it certainly helps that the wheels are of a design worth looking at. IMHO of course.

Daughter has one of these and given the design is thankful that the wheels are black.

The hovercar look is still a bit odd in my eyes though.

I've had the car for years but I feel like this week is the first time I've properly seen the wheels. Before I really thought of them as something like this:

Got the R8 wheels done this week, after much deliberation decided against black. Went for a dark anthracite which matches the carbon blades nicely

Happy!

Yes makes a massive difference, can actually you see the alloy design shape and like you said, flows with design already.

I have come to the opinion that an allot wheel refurb and colour change is an inexpensive way to enhance/modify/improve a car once the originals have suffered a bit of wear and tear. £340 to completely refresh my GT86 wheels and for me they really enhance the look of the car.

Both my cars have a set of black wheels and a set of silver wheels ( winter tyres). I’m a bit undecided about the WRX but the Countryman ( red / black roof and stripes definitely looks better with black.

It's 2022, we've survived COVID, and yet I still see people driving around in cars with black wheels... when will it end?!

It's surely a known fact that black wheels look st, are these people being deliberately obtuse? confused

The only thing worse than silver wheels with baked on brake dust are black wheels with baked on brake dust.. At least on silver wheels the surface brake dust washes off and the wheels look presentable at times. Also kerbing on black wheels looks far worse than on silver wheels.

They have emerged from their temporary role of complaining about anyone wearing a mask when they didn’t want to.

Not quite as obtuse as someone pretending not to understand that different people like different things when it comes to colours or shades or design.

Yes, I chose black wheels on my car to annoy the people who don't like black wheels.

Are they black or dark grey (CF)? I thought they were carbon, not painted black.

Lovely things!

No they’re satin black painted. I got a stone chip from a gravel trap and it was an easy job to touch up.

I’ve steered clear of the carbon rims. They’re pretty and save 10kg of unsprung mass but they’re very expensive to repair and believe me the car is not the limiting factor!

I can imagine the wheel holder in a mono is the blocker for going faster!
