I think sales of the m4 will be low and people who wanted one will buy the m3 instead
M3 will get the same front end.
One has to imagine we'll see a facelift across the 3-series lineup to graft this nose (or something very similar) on at some point.

Clutching at straws here, but at least it's not a chrome grille like the 7-series? That truly is horrendous, I'm sure they're lovely cars but the grille is absolutely laughable. Literally.

In fact forget that, this is just as awful.

BMW have form in that respect, the E90 M3 had the same front end as the E92 M3, but the normal E90 kept the original design with just minor changes even after LCI updates. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the new M3 gets this front end treatment whilst the rest of the range remains as it is with just minor changes like updated headlight designs come LCI time. Hopefully the 4 series LCI will do something to tone this down a bit!

My simple brain is unable to cope with change. I have a chip on my shoulder. I have never seen or driven this car but I’ve decided I don’t like it, and will therefore project my insecurities and shortcomings onto everyone else.

Or I might wait and see what it looks and drives like before spitting my dummy out. Haven’t decided yet.

I’m sure BMW will be heartbroken that the PH influencers, who likely drive something truly stunning like an MX5 or Evoque would never buy, a car that they’d never buy. Definitely biggrin

It'll drive amazingly well in the modern idiom I'm sure, but to love a car I have to like the outside too. And that's just wrong.

Pray tell how does one not see what it looks like from pictures and or video?

The irony in all of this is that in the shift to electric, cars don't even need grilles and Tesla et al are starting to get rid of them. And so the 'face' as we know it on cars will change anyway as we get used to grille-less cars so won't this Bugs Bunny Grille date very quickly?!! You think they'd be making them smaller if anything. Makes BMWs designer argument spurious at best.

Not sure that will happen but the M3 gets the M4 front end treatment as it did with the F8* chassis and the e9* before which got the coupe front end on the saloon M3.

The front grille is pretty terrible. Strangely putting a number plate on it actually improves it a lot imho.

I have been a (mostly) lifelong admirer of BMW styling. But they have jumped the shark with this trend for ginormo-grilles. Beyond parody.

But I'm sure it will be very popular;)

Absolute howler from BMW - and I love M Cars. 2 things:

1. There are some amazing deals on M4s on the classifieds where dealers have had to take on stock- £40k for a brand new M4 and £45k for the Comp - there's over 30 out there with delivery mileage - very tempting to bag a bargain!

2. this was the perfect opportunity to use this styling for the front - which would have been amazing! I really wish they had made this car.

That looks awesome.

It doesn't look great, but it's not THAT bad and I don't think justifies the almost hysterical response from some on here.

I'm sure it'll drive brilliantly, which for an M car, is what you're really paying for.

E30 M3 Butch but pretty car
E36 M3 Understated but handsom car
E46 M3 Butch but pretty car
E92/E90 Butch but smooth car
F80 M3 Butch looking car
F82 to my eye's is massive and dosent look special, a 420d m sport look almost the same.

The G82 looks like a cartoon car, its not Butch or Pretty and why have a convertible coupe, the whole point of a coupe, is looks.
I hope it one of those cars, that looks dynamite in the flesh but naff in pictures.
