Had to go for the AMG GT

Had it been a 58-62 Vette or an R32 Skyline it would have been a different answer.

Later model c1 is beautiful cloud9

now I was judging this on if I had another car to use between times - in which case it was the Corvette no question. By modern standards it's crap: slow, small, poor handling, poor build, poor safety, etc etc - but it's an 'event car'.

I'd go for the Skyline I reckon, because it reminds me of my old S14a 200SX because it has the same steering wheel!

If the AMG GT had a manual gearbox I would've gone with that instead. I do wish that Mercedes offered a manual gearbox in their performance cars for sure.

It might have been more interesting to ask, "This is my current stock, which would you pick for a year's free motoring?"

My choice would be this: https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Corvette for me in this instance. The AMG doesn't really interest me, and I already have a fast manual saloon of a certain age, but the 'vette is something I'd never otherwise own. The chance to cruise around it for a year or so making blub-blub-blub noises sounds rather pleasant smile

I know very little about the Corvette, so I looked it up. Some models had a 2 speed auto spin

R33.

Corvette doesn't interest me at all - to use a Clarksonism I respect it but I don't love it. Agree with someone else's comment that it looks like a clown car.

The AMG is the best car there I'm sure, but again, it does absolutely nothing for me. Just not interested.

The R33 could've been pretty much any 90s Japanese car with some performance credentials and I'd still pick that option. They're just the kind of cars i'm into.

That R33 is a particularly special one too, being what appears to be a factory Autech 4dr GTR. Love it.

I didn't even know they made a 4 door GTR, so definitely that. Especially given the fact it's almost box fresh so I could enjoy experiencing it as it was intended and I wouldn't have to worry about adding miles.

Do I have other cars i.e. can I keep my current garage in this scenario?
Or is the one you are lending me my only car?

Corvette C1 if I have another car, AMG GT if it's the only car.

It's a good question because I wouldn't buy any of those cars with my own money.

The Mercedes would be too anodyne for me.

The Skyline would be fun but again not all that different.

That Corvette not only comes from a different time several decades before my own, it may as well have come from a different planet. I presume it's 'three on the tree'? Old school V8, 50s styling, it is unlike anything that I'll ever likely own and offers a driving experience entirely different to anything I have driven again or likely will in the future so that's my pick.

Sure, keep your current stuff, this is just a loaner.

I'd pick the AMG. The Corvette would be wonderful, but only for a few days a year, and that particular Skyline just doesn't have the visual presence.

Initially I thought i'd take the 'vette, even if only for weekends.

Then I opened the doors and saw the interior and actually thought about actually using it.

So sadly i'm going to end up with the AMG.

But I voted 'vette hehe

AMG, great weekend car and very dailyable, although not my preferred colour choice.

Classic American muscle would be cool for the weekend but I'm really not feeling that Corvette. If it was something like a Charger / Challenger / GTO then it'd be a different choice.

Same with the Skyline, I like a GTR but I just don't think that one's special enough for a weekender.. Might be a decent daily to be fair but would be a waste given its condition.

AMG for me.

Not normally dabbling in this part of the market, that AMG strikes me as astonishingly good value really!
