Worst Car Interior Ever?

I've always found it odd that using a mobile phone whilst driving is dangerous, but it's perfectly fine to screw an ipad to the dashboard.
From a design perspective, yes. From an owners perspective....I'm sure they make it quite clear, using while driving may be an offence in most countries etc etc. So fine whilst driving it certainly isn't.daytonavrs said:

Tesla are not the only company to have touch screen controls.

Unless things have changed you can use a mobile phone as long as it's not in your hand.

you are missing the point, its not a legal pointUsing a cars touch screen controls are also fine. Tesla are not the only company to have touch screen controls.
using a phone without hands free illegal yet looking at touch screens and going through multiple menus is not - which is just as daft and dangerous
my car has lots of buttons which I can select without taking my eyes off the road, and a touch satnav screen which is a bit dangerous to use whilst on the move, having everything on touch screen is plain daft

Searching for W140 on this thread yields no hits so... Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the W140 S-class.
Ok, so not exactly gopping by a long stretch but that weird asymmetry of the centre of the dashboard is something that even the designer regards as a fail.
And the user interface...
When you have as many features as an S-class will invariably have, the case for menu-driven systems becomes clear!
Even now they have a lack of symmetry on many cars that make my teeth itch, that screen!Ok, so not exactly gopping by a long stretch but that weird asymmetry of the centre of the dashboard is something that even the designer regards as a fail.

I don't think the interior on my E90 is a candidate for "worst" - maybe bland but it isn't offensive and works pretty well.
very nice! Unfortunately this colour/spec combo has fallen out of fashion and car interiours have to be black/stealth/aggressive with "carbon" and silver "alloy" stuff and ipads and all.donkmeister said:

That’s better but the silver still stands out badly and that steering wheel still had silly silver leather on it. Yuck. They also did them with a leather covering for the centre console

Indeed, esp so with the yellow paint! I also quite like the Lexus in the OP, so much more fun than black/grey/beige. I'm a big fan of the full magenta leather interiors you can find in 928s - needs the right external colour but better than black everywhere.Dapster said:
Not even "it's of its time..." can redeem the 1995 Buick Riviera.
The 90's were the low watermark of interior design - there's a something cool about the 70's and 80's stuff, but the 90's is dated, low rent, charmless porridge.
Apart from the steering wheel I quite like that, for being a bit different! The 90's were the low watermark of interior design - there's a something cool about the 70's and 80's stuff, but the 90's is dated, low rent, charmless porridge.
American stuff generally suffers from bad interiors though. Chryslers of about 10 years ago, such as this Sebring had the worst brittle shiny scratchy plastics... You can't tell so much from the pic but the material quality was awful.
