Makes "J4 MES" a bargain at £22500 + the bits in Jan 98... another example of a great investment with the added little bit of fun...clap

I have been having a search.

Supposing a friend was interested in, oh, I don't know, let's say EG 04 DON.

Why wouldn't he, or she, be able to find any record of that plate?

He would be only able to get a record of the plate if it was a DVLA auction number or registered to a vehicle and not on retention, but this wouldn't give owner details..

It doesn't come up on MOT checks. Does that mean it could be on retention?

Yes or less it's on a under 3 year old car? Gov Reg checker would be better but if it is on retention it will not show...

I keep tabs on the James plates for obvious reasons, but I can’t for the life of me work out why J42 MES sold for £80k+ when J24 MES went for a much more sensible £4k+.

There must have been a couple of people that really wanted it that’s for sure eek

JARMES is a surname. Maybe two of them in competition?

I'd say that it's on retention. Or maybe it hasn't been issued ? You can buy the years either side of 04 for £499 right now from the DVLA, so maybe it's one of those two things ?

Cars that are too new for an MOT show up on the MOT website checker smile

A bloke I worked with reckoned his mate owned that plate. Apparently he had an Escort Cosworth when he was 18 and an M3 when he was 19, and unless it was sold on, probably would have had to buy that plate when he was 12, so make of that what you will biggrin

MAR 10

Porsche Panamera in Glasgow yesterday.

Italian plumber or a guy called Martin I wonder?
See that about quite often, I think MAR10S may belong to the same person, on a Cayenne.
I used to see MAR 10 in Tenterden, Kent approx 35 years ago, used to be on a convertible Maserati Biturbo.

I was confused when this went for the price listed, maybe you have cracked it - I didn't think about surnames or company names on this one.
