Saw this earlier in the forum, someone mentions a loophole being closed for Irish cars number plates been transferred in '87, any more information on whether these can be transferred, as am interested in buying one.
That was probably me, and it was probably 1986 when the current Irish plate system made its debut.Saw this earlier in the forum, someone mentions a loophole being closed for Irish cars number plates been transferred in '87, any more information on whether these can be transferred, as am interested in buying one.
Prior to that it was possible, under certain circumstances to transfer an Irish plate to a UK vehicle. That route was then closed.
If an Irish plate made it to the UK prior to that date then it can be freely sold/transferred.
If you're wanting to transfer one now, even if the pre 86 format then you have more chance of 1 AN becoming transferable.

Not whether this belongs in this thread, or the bad thread TBH...
I don’t think anyone knows now to be honest. This thread used to be about spotting of low letters and digit plates or historically significant ones or even very expensive ones, but now anything goes.
You only have to look at a few posts above yours to see that plates which supposedly spell something are now included.
I guess it’s now down to the poster what is “really good” or not.

Some decent spots around Nottingham today:
H4 LLS - Porsche 911 (just £6k plus the bits in 2000)
OO 14 - Range Rover Sport
HO11 LYS - Range Rover Evoque
JAS 4N - BMW X2
111 Y - Jaguar E-Pace. Has always been on Jaguars and a favourite of mine that I see regularly.
111 Y lives in Newstead Abbey Park, I believe.

It was a few years ago (and I can't go back through 72 pages to see if it has already been mentioned) but two cars side by side on a driveway in a posh part of London... 2 BOR and NOT 2B. Thespians I suspect.
I used to see them parked by a swanky white house , Cheyne WalkTR4man said:

It always has been. One of the plates in the very first post of the thread was a mis-spaced plate that would never meet the 'rules' now.
I like single singles and historic plates but also like those that spell out words or names.
FWIW I quite like F457 BMW as well.
