RE: Lexus RC F Carbon | Spotted
Discussion
That level of depreciation looks about right 50% by year 3 or 4. These cars do appear to be bulletproof though.
After owning a couple of C63 Mercs (in w204 form) and a newish 5.0 Mustang, I reckon the V8 in the RCF is spot on. Interestingly, the C63s would chew rear tyres every 5k miles. Our RCF carbon is still on 6mm after 10k. It could be that the TVD helps get the power down smoother?
The Lexus interior in alcantara is a nice place to be. Just don’t buy one unless you can live with the media and sat nav system. I’d rather listen to the exhaust so seldom try and use the touchpad interface.
These are exclusive cars and attract a lot of comments. Last time I checked there were around 35 RCF carbons in the country. Mpg is a personal thing, but all our big V8s have delivered somewhere between 20 and 28 depending on right foot. The Lexus is smack on the middle of that band.
I reckon the Lexus beats the other cars I’ve mentioned as a complete package. The Mercs were more brutal and the gearboxes more aggressive particularly on deceleration, but the Lexus gives a better experience, smooth power delivery and a quicksilver burble when required. I can’t understand the negative comments on weight. You simply don’t feel this on the road. And how many of us are really going to track these?
Proof will be whether we hold on to this car for any length of time. I’m not even looking after 10 months, so this one could be a keeper. I personally think prices will flatten as people realise these really are the last hurrah for a bulletproof V8 luxury car that is still fun to drive. And what’s wrong with that orange?

An adjustable rear ARB – nice.
Port- and direct-injection – praise the Lord!
Warning! If you watch this vid and get sucked-in by the juxtaposition of its low-key delivery, nice photography and deliciously heady overload of insight you’ll end up wanting an RC F:

Savagegeese do make a good video on both the RCF and the GSF, when I was in the process of thinking of buying mine I also checked out the Chris Harris video on the RCF. My thoughts were also that it's a better road car than a track day car. He was also right in that if you like the car initially you will grow to like it even more over the long term.Port- and direct-injection – paise the Lord!
