I'd still take a 458 over this and the 488.
Totally agree. There are some parts I really like on the car, but overall it's a bit fussy. Not sure I have ever liked a Ferrari in yellow, the back end..well, it just looks a bit Elise like to me. I can't quite put my finger on any one area, but it's just a little off.

That interior really is a dog’s dinner.
I disagree that is the right colour to put with a yellow exterior, love it. With a write up like that these should drop like a stone.

I'm not sure the combination of yellow and Spider form show this car in the best light ..

The only thing I really don't like about the exterior is the way the lower bodywork comes out at the rear arches. It makes the rear wheels look lost from some angles.

EVO have given it 5 stars and Autocar rate it highly too ... a mixed review from PH won't affect anything smile

I’m not sure Evo or Autocar are that impartial tbh?

Ferrari have lost their way recently with their design, they are all top fussy and over styled. The last ferrari I thought was truly stunning was the F12, and that was some years ago now.
I don't think their in-house designs are as good as Pinifarina's

I've seen a berlinetta in the flesh and, like so many modern cars, it looked better than the pictures although still can't get on with the rear deck on these. Nice to see an honest review. Holds up to what I have suspected for some time; Ferrari have fallen off the pace a little recently. Shame it's the last Ferrari we'll see on PH for a while though!! laugh

Whomever at Ferrari signed off the rear end to this new one needs their eyes testing.

The proportions are there, but the surface detailing is awful. Can't argue with the performance, though and even the styling is just "of its time".

Cheapest way into a Pista spider.

Pistas are so ludicrously priced used that I would prefer one of these after a few years of depreciation.

Looks better than a Pista too except for the awful wheels.

FWIW, I have one on order, blu corsa with crema interior to sit alongside my 488 GTB and I cannot wait. I love the look, the performance and all the rest. If I wanted a McLaren, I could have one of those as well but I don’t. I’m not stupid. High depreciation and a dismal ownership proposition from a company which may or may not stay around to support it.

Needs a bigger diam back wheel to front looks strangely odd and a little lost in the rear haunches

Too many opinions from people who will probably never see one for real ... never mind buy one.

Quite a few here complaining about the 488, just like the article's author. That can be explained by disappointed McLaren fan boys seeing their marque stare into the abyss of insolvency. Or, just simpleton complainers. I will note that Ferrari, in many parts attributable to the entire 488 line, is currently a screaming commercial success. (Check the entity's market capitalization if you doubt this). Maranello is hitting on as many cylinders as their vehicles have with a clear message to customers: pay and enjoy. Others can admire or complain.

So you can't give an opinion on aesthetics unless you own or have access to a thing? I know what you mean in a way, a physical representation will always provide a much fuller meaning of what a designer was trying to achieve, but this is a discussion forum about cars. I've only owned a few hundred over the years can I only comment on them?

I was referring to the posters who just go by looking at a few, often compressed, photos of a car and then wading in with their opinions.

I was at the launch of the F8 Spider in Maranello and at the UK launch of the F8 Tributo ... seeing them for real for a good amount of time, walking round them and taking in all the details makes all the difference when evaluating the looks of a car.

Just look at the number of posts on the Grenadier thread where they are arguing over the looks and detail of what is just a rendered image !
