I know this sounds a bit silly, but ~800hp for 203 MPH doesn't seem all that impressive.

A de-limited E50 M5 with 300 less BHP could do 205 MPH.

Does the Charger have much longer gearing? Or will the engine do more than 60k before it spins a bearing?
Those that delimited found that they couldn't get near that number but it did result in a fair few destroyed engines.

I think the SL55 was able in the day though without too much of an issue.

I agree.

PLENTY of BMW's and AUDI's, and probably MERCEDES could beat both the top speed, and quarter mile times, if they were delimited, and with 200 BHP less, so I don't see it as that impressive at all really, considering the BHP output.
It will be a cheap rattly interior, too.
Fitting drag radials LOL I bet they go round corners really well then NOT.
I guess, if you want a cheap, rattly, brick with a huge engine, which goes almost as fast as a handful of German machinary (but only in a straight line), and looks hideous then this is the exact car you need.
I'll stick with my refined, German machine, thanks.
Here's the thing the Charger Hellcat costs 72k in the US & comes loaded to spec an E63 to the same level will cost you 130k, I've not found them to be rattly but they are cheaper inside & so they should be with a nigh on 50k difference in price it's 30k (but that means 155 limiter) if you don't try to match the spec.

The Charger handles well some people are getting confused with the Challenger which comes with a drag pack the Charger will walk away from an RS6 in any roll on above 40mph

The argument that you are struggling to make is false.

"The HB Viva... featuring coke bottle styling, and was modelled after American General Motors (GM) models such as the Chevrolet Impala/Caprice of the period."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vauxhall_Viva#HB_Viv...

Dodge Challenger... "Exterior design was penned by Carl Cameron, who was also responsible for the exterior designs of the 1966 Dodge Charger. Cameron based the 1970 Challenger grille on an older sketch of a stillborn 1966 Charger prototype that was to have a turbine engine."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Challenger#Fir...

HB Viva -- the car in your photograph -- was not a leader, but a follower. Your photos of a Viva and a sandwich have almost nothing to do with this thread. You're in troll territory.
It's called a sense of humour over here.

Poorly done, in my opinion. See the "I don't get it" that another PHer posted in response to ate one too.

This biglaugh

We should be celebrating 800bhp ICE production cars while we still have them.

Agree with the earlier comment they’ll be worth a lot in years to come.

I’d love any of them but if beggars could in fact be choosers it would have to be the Challenger Hellcat wide-body in black cloud9

My experience of M5s is that they feel much faster than they really are, because of the noise and rubbish suspension, and that any attempt to use them to their limited full results in a £10k + bill.

I would take my chances with a Yank rather than a Kraut any day.

All this talk of German "quality" is laughable. These, like almost all US cars, will be working fine with no breakdowns and cheap maintenance at ten years old when the twice as expensive Mercedes/BMW/Audi has shat it's mechanical bits all over the road in a spectacular fashion at least twice.

I suppose you can enjoy fondling your soft dashboard while you wait for the AA?

Agreed.

In my time back in the US (5 years), my wife has gone through a BMW X5, a 5 Series & E Class Mercedes. (She's a badge snob silly)

All bought at a year old & all had niggly faults & were binned at the end of the warranty periods.
Now in a Lexus which is faultless.

I've had a (used) F250, Mustang & currently have a year old Challenger that I bought new.
zero issues.

Go figure as the "Muricans say here.

Hey Don, "we" don't know that; you really don't speak for all of us.

I'm sure you are a sensitive soul but why don't you just relax and enjoy the ride, life is too short to take offence at banter

You never know, you might get Kanye West for president later this year !

Well now I'm no hero
That's understood
All the redemption I can offer girl
Is beneath this dirty hood

With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now
Except roll down the window
And let the wind blow back your hair?
Well the night's busting open
These two lanes will take us anywhere

We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back
Heaven's waiting down on the tracks

Oh-oh come take my hand
We're riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh-oh-oh-oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road

Lying out there like a killer in the sun
Hey I know it's late we can make it if we run
Oh-oh-oh-oh Thunder Road, sit tight, take hold
Thunder Road

Well I got this guitar
And I learned how to make it talk
And my car's out back
If you're ready to take that long walk

From your front porch to my front seat
The door's open but the ride ain't free
And I know you're lonely
For words that I ain't spoken
Tonight we'll be free
All the promises'll be broken

There were ghosts in the eyes
Of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned-out Chevrolets

They scream your name at night in the street
Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet
And in the lonely cool before dawn
You hear their engines roaring on
When you get to the porch they're gone
On the wind

So Mary climb in
It's a town full of losers
I'm pulling out of here to win
Sums it up perfectly. What a song.
Plenty of romance in Yank cars.
Yup, Bruce Springsteen is his own tribute act. One of the hardest working guys on the road for years. No need for tribute acts, if you wanna see Bruce, you just went and saw him!! Which is kinda how I feel about these cars. No pretence, hard working, low maintenance and they will keep on keeping on long after European 'prestige ' cars have spat their respective dummies
